Office Chair Maintenance Tips
Admin October 16, 2026
Office chair maintenance should be approached from three aspects: daily use, cleaning and maintenance, and health adjustment. Here are the specific methods:

I. Daily Use Standards
- Handle with Care: Avoid collisions during moving to prevent structural deformation or part detachment.
- Distribute Pressure: Pat the seat and edges after prolonged sitting to reduce the risk of sagging; keep the center of gravity in the middle of the pneumatic rod to ensure smooth height adjustment.
- Regular Inspection: Check monthly for loose screws, springs, and knobs; adjust the backrest elasticity according to body weight to maintain smooth retraction.
- Avoid Overloading: Do not sit on the armrests or place heavy objects on them to prevent armrest breakage or damage to the pneumatic rod.
- Stay Away from Extreme Environments: Avoid direct sunlight (which can cause plastic aging and leather cracking) or proximity to heat sources (which can cause leather fading); do not wipe solid wood chair legs with a damp cloth and then expose them to sunlight.
II. Cleaning and Maintenance Techniques
- Leather Material: Gently wipe stains with soapy water at a 40%-50% concentration, then wipe with clean water and dry; test for fading in an inconspicuous area before cleaning, and air dry naturally with lukewarm water for particularly dirty stains.
- Fabric Material: Spray with a cleaner and gently wipe; for stubborn stains, clean with warm water combined with a cleaner; do not scrub vigorously with a brush.
- Solid Wood Chair Legs: Wipe with a dry cloth and then apply a cleaner; avoid wiping with a damp cloth and then exposing to sunlight.
- Mesh Chair: Wipe with clean water and then treat water stains with a semi-dry cloth; for stubborn stains, gently brush the pores with a mild alkaline detergent.
- General Principle: Do not use harsh cleaning agents (such as gasoline or turpentine) to prevent surface damage.
III. Health Adjustment and Usage Habits
- Height Adjustment: Keep feet flat on the ground with thighs and calves at a 95ยฐ-100ยฐ angle; use a footrest if height is insufficient to keep knees slightly higher than hips.
- Lumbar Support: Ensure the lumbar support precisely fits the natural curve of the waist to maintain a 15ยฐ forward convexity of the spine; use a towel or memory foam to fill gaps if the original support is insufficient.
- Monitor Height: Keep the top edge parallel to the line of sight; use a stand to elevate a laptop or adjust a desktop monitor.
- Armrest Angle: When arms hang naturally, the elbows should gently rest on the armrests with forearms and upper arms at a 90ยฐ angle; adjust the angle to suit different scenarios.
- Dynamic Sitting Posture: Stand against a wall for 20 seconds every 20 minutes of sitting (with the back of the head and calves touching the wall), or get up and move every 30 minutes; sitting continuously for 90 minutes is considered prolonged sitting and requires timely adjustment.
Regular Maintenance: Follow the instructions for professional maintenance (such as lubricating the pneumatic rod and replacing aging parts) to extend the service life.
