Office Chair Maintenance Plan

Admin October 09, 2026

Office chair maintenance should be carried out comprehensively from multiple aspects such as environmental control, cleaning and care, component maintenance, and usage habits. The specific plan is as follows:

I. Environmental Control

  1. Humidity Management: Maintain indoor ventilation and control the environmental humidity between 40% and 60%. Excessive humidity can easily cause leather to crack, fabric to mold, and metal components to rust; while insufficient humidity may cause the leather to dry and crack.
  2. Light Protection: Avoid direct sunlight, especially on leather and fabric materials. Ultraviolet rays can accelerate leather fading and fabric aging. It is recommended to use curtains to block strong light.

II. Cleaning and Care

  1. Leather Material:
    • Daily Cleaning: Gently wipe the surface with a clean towel dampened with water and wrung out every week, then dry it with a dry towel.
    • Stain Treatment: Use a dedicated leather cleaner with a sponge for cleaning. It is strictly prohibited to use harsh cleaners such as alcohol or gasoline. For long-term use or when stained, it can be cleaned with 40%-50% concentration soapy water (or laundry detergent water), then wiped with clean water and dried.
  2. Fabric Material:
    • Daily Dust Removal: Use a vacuum cleaner or a dry cloth to remove surface dust. For stubborn stains, use a neutral cleaner with a soft-bristled brush for light scrubbing.
    • Liquid Treatment: Immediately absorb spilled liquid with a dry cloth or sponge, then wipe with a damp cloth and let it air dry. Do not use a hairdryer. For mesh fabric surfaces, a hairdryer can be used for 1-2 minutes for dust removal. When dirty, gently wipe with a damp towel with a drop of dish detergent for 1 minute.
  3. Solid Wood Chair Legs: Directly wipe with a dry cloth and then apply a cleaner. Avoid wiping with a damp cloth or exposing to sunlight.

III. Component Maintenance

  1. Metal Chair Frame: Regularly wipe off dust with a dry cloth. For stubborn stains, spray a small amount of Pledge and wipe with a flannel cloth. Avoid using corrosive cleaners.
  2. Chair Wheels: Regularly clean hair and fiber debris. Choose wheel types according to the floor material (nylon hard wheels are suitable for carpets, and PU soft wheels are suitable for hard floors). After cleaning, spray with an antistatic agent.
  3. Base Plate: When there is abnormal noise in the tilting function, spray lubricant (such as WD-40) on the pivot joint or spring; adjust the tilting tension to a tightness suitable for your weight; regularly check if the screws are loose.

IV. Usage Precautions

  1. Lift and place gently during handling to avoid collisions; pat the pressed areas and edges after prolonged sitting to reduce dents.
  2. Keep the center of gravity in the middle of the gas lift rod to ensure flexible lifting and lowering; regularly check if the screws, springs, and knobs are loose, and adjust the spring tension according to your weight.
  3. It is strictly prohibited to sit on the armrests or place heavy objects on them to avoid structural damage.
  4. Confirm the material type before cleaning to avoid mixing cleaners; cover with a dust cover when not in use for a long time to reduce dust accumulation.
