Office Chair Maintenance Accessories

Admin October 12, 2026

The accessories involved in office chair maintenance mainly include casters, recline mechanisms, metal components, adjustment mechanisms and swivel wheels, gas cylinders, and connecting screws. Here are the maintenance points for each accessory:

Casters are key components for the mobility of office chairs. After long-term rolling, they are prone to accumulating lint and fibers, which affect smooth sliding. The wheel axles need to be cleaned regularly. Anti-static spray can be used to protect the casters, reducing the adhesion of dust and fibers and ensuring flexible rotation of the casters.

The recline mechanism is responsible for the recline function of the office chair. If there is abnormal noise, it may be due to a lack of lubrication in areas such as the axis joints or springs. In this case, WD - 40 lubricant can be sprayed on the relevant parts to eliminate the abnormal noise. Meanwhile, the recline adjustment should be set to an appropriate tightness according to one's body shape. Being too loose may lead to a risk of tipping over, while being too tight will affect using comfort.

Metal components such as chair frames and armrests need to be wiped regularly with an oily cloth and a mild detergent to keep the surface clean and shiny. If there are rust spots, they should be repaired and painted promptly to prevent the rust from spreading. Avoid using a damp cloth when wiping to prevent metal oxidation and rusting.

The adjustment mechanism and swivel wheels are responsible for the height adjustment and rotation functions of the office chair. About every six months, suitable lubricants (such as silicone oil or grease) should be used to lubricate the adjustment rods, gears, and swivel wheels to keep them flexible and smooth, reduce the resistance during use, and minimize component wear.

The gas cylinder is the core component for height adjustment. After a period of use, it may experience a drop in pressure or air leakage. It is recommended to check annually whether the gas cylinder can still stably support the seat. If necessary, have it replaced or adjusted by a professional maintenance technician. When adjusting the height, avoid sudden force or exceeding the limit to prevent damage to the gas cylinder.

The connecting screws may become loose after long-term use. They should be checked and tightened every six months to ensure that components such as the seat, armrests, and support frames are firmly connected and to avoid wobbling or detachment during use.
