Office Chair Maintenance

Admin October 08, 2026

Office chair maintenance should be carried out from three aspects: daily care, regular maintenance, and cleaning. The specific methods are as follows:

Daily Care

  1. Seat Cleaning:

    • Mesh/Fabric Seats: Use a vacuum cleaner or a soft-bristled brush to remove dust every week. For stains, dilute a neutral cleaner, dampen a soft cloth with it, gently wipe the stains, and then dry the area with a dry cloth.
    • Leather Seats: Wipe off dust with a dry, soft cloth daily. Clean sweat and oil stains with a slightly damp cloth every week. Apply a special leather conditioner every quarter to maintain softness and shine.
    • Plastic/Metal Frames: Wipe stains with a damp cloth dipped in a small amount of soapy water and dry with a dry cloth. For minor rust on metal frames, wipe with a cotton cloth dampened with white vinegar, let it sit for 5 minutes, and then wipe clean.
  2. Usage Habits:

    • Avoid placing heavy objects on the armrests or seat to prevent deformation or damage.
    • Push or pull the chair gently when moving it to avoid loosening the wheels or supports due to dragging.
    • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent material aging or fading.

Regular Maintenance

  1. Lubrication of Key Components:

    • Adjustment Systems: When the gas lift is stuck, drip 1-2 drops of silicone oil at the connection point and lift and lower it several times. For a stiff tilt/recline system, open the chassis cover and apply grease to the gears and springs. If the armrest adjustment is stiff, remove the cover and spray a small amount of lubricant on the adjustment rod and slots.
    • Wheel Maintenance: Clean the wheels once a month. Disassemble snap-on wheels (use a flat-head screwdriver with a soft cloth to pry them open if stuck). Use tweezers to remove hair, fibers, and other debris. Brush the surface and bearing gaps with an old toothbrush dipped in neutral detergent. Rinse with water (avoid getting water into the bearings), dry with a cloth, let it air dry for 10 minutes, drip 1-2 drops of lubricating oil into the bearings, rotate evenly, and then reassemble.
  2. Inspection of Connecting Components:

    • Use tools to check the screws and bolts at the connections between the seat and the gas lift, the chassis and the gas lift, the armrests and the seat, and the five-star base and the gas lift every 3-6 months. Tighten them promptly if loose. If a screw is stripped, replace it with a new one of the same specification.

Cleaning Tips

  1. Seat Cleaning:

    • Vacuum fabric/mesh seats regularly and gently wipe stains with water or a neutral cleaner.
    • Wipe dust off wooden chair legs with a dry cloth and avoid humid environments.
    • Avoid using harsh cleaners on leather seats and regularly care for them with a leather conditioner.
  2. Wheel Cleaning:

    • Disassemble the wheels every month, clean the internal debris, and lubricate the bearings to ensure smooth rotation.
