Office Chair Maintenance
Admin October 08, 2026
The maintenance of office chairs should be systematically carried out from three aspects: daily care, regular maintenance, and healthy usage. The specific methods are as follows:

I. Daily Care
Surface Cleaning
- Mesh/Fabric Seat Surfaces: Use a vacuum cleaner or a soft-bristled brush to remove dust weekly. For stains, dilute a neutral detergent and gently wipe them off, avoiding liquid penetration that could cause mildew.
- Leather Seat Surfaces: Dust with a dry, soft cloth daily. Wipe away sweat stains with a slightly damp cloth weekly. Apply specialized leather conditioner every quarter to prevent cracking and fading.
- Plastic/Metal Frames: Wipe away stains with soapy water and dry thoroughly. Treat metal rust with white vinegar, avoiding water residue that could lead to aging or rusting.
Usage Habits
- Avoid placing heavy or sharp objects on the seat or armrests to prevent deformation or dents.
- Push or pull gently when moving the chair to avoid hitting walls or table corners, which could damage the frame or wheels.
- Avoid direct sunlight, especially on leather and fabric seat surfaces, to prevent material aging and fading.
II. Regular Maintenance
Lubrication of Adjustment Systems
- Gas Lift: When lifting is sluggish, apply 1-2 drops of silicone oil at the connection point and lift repeatedly to ensure even lubrication.
- Tilt/Recline System: When adjustment resistance is high, apply grease to gears and springs to ensure smooth recline.
- Armrest Adjustment: If adjustment is stiff, remove the casing and spray lubricant on the adjustment rod and slots to restore flexibility.
Tightening of Connection Components
- Regularly inspect the screws connecting the seat to the gas lift, the base to the gas lift, the armrests to the seat, and the five-star base clips. Tighten any loose screws promptly and replace stripped screws with the same size.
Wheel Cleaning
- Regularly remove tangled hair and fibers to ensure smooth movement and prevent wheel damage due to blockage.
III. Healthy Usage
- Adjust Seat Height: Keep feet flat on the ground with thighs and lower legs at a 95-100 degree angle. Use a footrest if height is insufficient to avoid pressure on the back of the knees.
- Lumbar Support: Ensure the support point accurately aligns with the natural curve of the lower back, maintaining a 15-degree forward curve of the spine. Use a towel or memory foam to fill gaps if native support is insufficient.
- Monitor Height: Keep the top edge of the monitor level with your line of sight to avoid neck strain from looking down or up. Use a stand to adjust the height if necessary.
- Armrest Adjustment: Rest elbows lightly on the armrests with forearms and upper arms at a 90-degree angle to prevent shoulder and neck tension. Adjustable-angle armrests are preferable.
- Avoid Prolonged Sitting: Sitting continuously for 90 minutes is considered prolonged sitting. It is recommended to get up and move every 30 minutes and practice the 20-20 rule (stand against a wall for 20 seconds every 20 minutes of sitting) to break the cycle of static load.
