Office Chair Mailing Methods

Admin October 19, 2026

You can refer to the following steps for mailing office chairs:

I. Packaging

  • Original packaging preferred: If the original packaging is intact, it can be used directly as its design usually fits the chair's structure and provides the best protection.
  • Custom packaging alternative: If the original packaging is lost, a sturdy cardboard box needs to be customized. Fill the gaps inside with foam, bubble wrap, or cardboard to prevent movement during transportation. Adjustable components (such as armrests and backrests) are recommended to be fixed with stretch wrap to avoid loosening; detachable components (such as chair legs and wheels) should be packaged separately to reduce volume and facilitate handling.

II. Selecting a shipping method

  • Domestic mailing:
    • Ordinary chairs: Can be packed in a cardboard box and sent via express delivery.
    • Heavy chairs (such as executive chairs): Choose logistics providers like Deppon, Aneng, and Yuancheng. In urban areas, they can deliver to the downstairs. Cost reference: For mailing a 50-kilogram plastic chair within the province, Aneng Logistics costs about 110 yuan; for mailing a 60-kilogram large chair across provinces, Shunxin Jieda charges less than 1 yuan per kilogram; for mailing to remote areas like Xinjiang and Tibet, a 100-kilogram package via ordinary postal parcels costs about 60 yuan (taking 5-6 days); for valuable chairs (such as solid wood chairs), Deppon can be chosen, with a cost of about 259 yuan for a 50-kilogram cross-province mailing, including free wooden frame packaging and upstairs delivery service.
    • Special materials: Plastic chairs are shock-resistant, so low-cost logistics can be preferred; solid wood chairs require shock absorption, so it is recommended to choose logistics with wooden frame packaging services.
  • International mailing:
    • Countries like Singapore: Provide air freight (5-10 working days, high cost), sea freight (20-40 days, low cost), and express delivery (suitable for urgent needs, highest cost) services. Office chairs are large items and may be charged by volumetric weight. Cost reference: Sea freight is charged per cubic meter, with a standard cubic meter costing several hundred to over a thousand yuan; air freight costs can be more than twice that of sea freight.
    • Japan: Air freight takes 4-7 days, land transportation takes 4-6 days, and large furniture items usually go by sea freight express ships.

III. Cost estimation

  • Domestic: Costs vary depending on the logistics company, weight, and destination, so specific quotes need to be consulted in advance.
  • International: In addition to freight charges, if the office chair has a high value, customs duties may need to be paid, and the costs vary according to import regulations.

IV. Customs clearance process (international mailing)

  • Required documents: Invoice (indicating the item name, quantity, value, and material), packing list, and waybill.
  • Special requirements: If the office chair is a used item, the invoice needs to provide additional explanations; Singapore has regulations on furniture imports, so ensure that the items meet the requirements to avoid customs clearance delays.
