Office Chair Lunge
"Office Chair Lunge" is not a specific exercise or product name, but rather a colloquial term for a lunge stretch performed with the assistance of an office chair, primarily used to relax the muscles of the waist and hips.

Background and Purpose of the Exercise
Due to prolonged sitting, the muscles of the waist and hips in sedentary individuals tend to become tense and stiff. The lunge stretch can alleviate fatigue by stretching the muscles and increasing joint mobility. Using an office chair as an aid enhances stability, making it particularly suitable for fragmented exercise in office settings.
Specific Exercise Method (Right Leg Example)
- Preparation Position: Stand in front of the office chair, take a large step forward with your right foot, ensuring the sole of your foot is fully in contact with the ground, and extend your left leg naturally backward. If the chair has armrests, you can lightly hold them for balance; if not, place your hands on either side of your front leg or extend them upward.
- Lower the Hips: Slowly squat down, keeping your right thigh parallel to the ground and your left knee close to the ground (if flexibility is insufficient, the knee can be suspended in the air for support). Maintain an upright torso, avoiding bending forward or leaning, to fully stretch the muscles of the waist and hips.
- Duration: Hold this position for approximately 20 to 30 seconds, feeling the stretch in the front of your right leg and the back of your left leg. You can slightly adjust your body weight to enhance the effect.
- Switch Sides and Repeat: After completing the stretch with your right leg, switch to your left leg and repeat the above steps. Perform 3 sets for each side, with a short rest of 10 to 15 seconds between sets.
Precautions
- Frequency and Duration: It is recommended to get up and move around every 40 minutes to avoid prolonged sitting. Control the intensity of the stretch to prevent muscle strain from overstretching.
- Environmental Safety: Ensure the office chair is stable and there are no obstacles around to prevent falls due to excessive movement.
- Individual Differences: If you have knee or hip joint conditions, adjust the range of motion according to your own situation and consult a professional if necessary.
This exercise provides a simple and easy way to help sedentary individuals relieve muscle tension during office breaks, but it is important to pay attention to proper form and safety to avoid injuries caused by improper operation.
