Office Chair Lubricant Spray

Admin October 09, 2026

It is recommended to choose an office chair lubricant spray packaged in an aerosol can and applied by spraying, with priority given to silicone-based or precision spray lubricants containing polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Here are the specific details:

1. Product Characteristics and Applicability
Office chair lubricant sprays need to possess characteristics such as non-toxicity, water and salt resistance, and high dielectric strength to adapt to usage scenarios where they are in long-term contact with the human body and may be exposed to humid environments. Products containing polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) have excellent temperature resistance (-40ยฐC to 260ยฐC) and can stably lubricate sliding, rotating, and rolling components (such as casters, lifting rods, and rotating shafts) as well as metal impact points. Silicone-based or precision spray lubricants specifically designed for metal components can effectively prevent dust adhesion and do not corrode plastic or metal surfaces, making them a better choice than easily dust-attracting oils such as cooking oil and regular engine oil.

2. Usage Methods and Steps

  • Cleaning Components: Thoroughly clean the moving parts before use. For detachable components (such as casters), use an old toothbrush to remove fluff and dust. For non-detachable parts (such as the gaps in rotating shafts), use a dry cloth or cotton swab to wipe away old oil stains to prevent impurities from affecting the lubrication effect.
  • Spraying Operation: Insert the suction tube of the lubricant spray into the nozzle, aim at the gaps or contact surfaces, and spray 1-2 times from a distance of 20-30 centimeters (or for half a second at each contact point) to avoid excessive application that may cause overflow onto the floor or the chair's paint surface. If using a paste lubricant, use a toothpick to pick up a small amount and apply it to the contact points.
  • Penetration and Cleaning: After application, repeatedly move the corresponding parts (such as lifting the chair multiple times or rotating the chair several circles) to allow the lubricant to fully penetrate into the joint gaps. After 10 minutes, use a dry cloth to wipe away excess lubricant to prevent dust from being attracted by the residue.

3. Maintenance Cycle Recommendations
Depending on the frequency of use, it is recommended to lubricate the office chair casters every 2-3 months and the rotating shafts every six months. Regular maintenance can extend the lifespan of the components and reduce issues such as abnormal noises or jamming.

4. Precautions
Avoid using non-specialized lubricants (such as cooking oil and regular engine oil), as these oils easily attract dust and long-term use can lead to increased wear and tear on the components. When choosing a product, ensure that it is suitable for furniture or metal components and meets basic requirements such as non-toxicity and temperature resistance.
