Office Chair Lowering Techniques

Admin October 10, 2026

There are mainly several methods to lower an office chair:

For office chairs with one or two handles beneath the seat, turning the handle(s) upwards is the key operation when there are handles under the seat. When a person is sitting on the chair, turning the handle(s) upwards can prevent the high-pressure air in the air rod from rebounding. Since the air rod is an important component for the height adjustment of the office chair, by preventing the high-pressure air from rebounding, the original balance state that maintains the chair's height is disrupted, and the chair will naturally lower.

If the swivel chair has fixed screws at the bottom, the adjustment process is relatively simple and straightforward. Just loosen the fixed screws first. At this time, the height adjustment components of the chair are in a movable state. Then adjust the chair height according to personal needs, and finally tighten the screws again to keep the chair stable at the adjusted height.

Some chair seats have two adjustment levers below them, one for adjusting up and down and the other for adjusting left and right. When adjusting the height, a person can sit on the seat and operate. First, lift the handle for height adjustment. At this time, the chair is in a height-adjustable state. When the desired height is reached, release the handle, and the chair will be fixed at that height.

When there are two handles under the chair, the situation is a bit more complex. One of the handles can adjust the chair's height, and the other can adjust the angle of the chair back. If you don't know which handle to use to adjust the chair's height, you can repeatedly try to see which handle can adjust the height. After determining it, follow the method mentioned above, that is, lift the handle to adjust the height, and release the handle for adjustment when the desired height is reached.

Some office stools have an adjustment function at the bottom. When a person sits on them and directly presses the relevant part, the chair will lower. This design is relatively simple and straightforward, without the need for complex operation steps, making it convenient for users to quickly adjust the chair height.
