Office Chair Long-Sitting Installation

Admin October 09, 2026

For the installation of an office chair for long-term sitting, it is generally recommended to proceed from the bottom up. The specific steps are as follows:

  1. Install the Chair Base and Casters
Insert each caster into the mounting holes of the five-pronged chair base one by one, ensuring that each caster is properly installed and not loose. After installation, place the thicker end of the gas lift rod vertically against the center hole of the chair base, ensuring a secure connection between the gas lift rod and the chair base. The gas lift rod is the core component that supports the chair's height adjustment, so check that its surface is free of scratches or air leaks.

  2. Secure the Seat Plate and Seat
Place the seat plate on the bottom of the seat, paying attention to its orientation (usually clearly marked). After aligning the screw holes, use a screwdriver to insert the screws 3-4 turns each, then tighten them one by one until they can no longer rotate. This step ensures that the seat plate and seat are fully flush, preventing wobbling during use due to loose screws. Some models may use a snap-fit design, requiring you to press the edge of the seat plate until you hear a 'click' sound, indicating it is properly installed.

  3. Connect the Backrest and Seat
Align the seat with the top of the gas lift rod and insert it into the hole in the seat plate, ensuring the gas lift rod is fully embedded. Align the bottom sides of the backrest with the mounting positions on the sides of the seat's armrests, insert them first, and then secure the bottom of the backrest with 2 screws from the bottom of the armrest brackets. Next, align the mounting holes at the back of the backrest with those on the seat bracket, and use two wrenches to lock the screws in place. This step requires even tightening of the screws to prevent the backrest from tilting or becoming loose. Some simpler models may omit the armrest brackets and connect the backrest directly to the seat via slots.

  4. Install the Armrests and Headrest
Press the button below the armrest surface (if applicable), and insert the left and right armrests into the holes in the armrest brackets until you hear a 'click' sound, indicating successful installation. Place the headrest in the middle at the top of the backrest, press it down to fit snugly against the backrest, and insert a screw through the headrest's fixing clip and tighten it. Similarly, insert the screws 3-4 turns first, then tighten them one by one. The height of the headrest can be adjusted according to needs, but its stability should be tested after installation.

Precautions: Avoid using excessive force during installation to prevent damage to parts; all screws should be tightened until they can no longer rotate, but do not overtighten to avoid stripping the threads; after installation, shake the chair to check that all components are secure and ensure there are no unusual noises or looseness.
