Office Chair Lock Broken
If the lock on your office chair is broken, you can try the following methods to solve the problem:

Adjust Relevant Components
There is usually a handle under the chair for adjusting the backrest. Push it in to see if it resolves the locking issue. If you need to adjust the angle of the backrest, press the handle down without releasing it and apply backward pressure with your back. Release the handle once you reach the desired angle. You can also find the adjustment lever at the rear under the seat. Pull the lever while leaning back slightly with your back, then release the lever to fix the angle. To return to the original position, pull the lever again and apply a bit of force with your back, and the backrest will spring back. For issues with the recline lock, find the handle on the right side. Pushing it to the left locks the recline, and pulling it to the right unlocks it. The cylindrical knob on the base can be rotated clockwise to increase the rebound support force and counterclockwise to decrease it.
Inspect and Address the Locking Mechanism Structure
Carefully observe the locking mechanism on the backrest of the office chair to check for any damaged or loose parts. If the locking button is damaged, purchase a button of the same model for replacement. If the screws in the connecting parts are loose, use an appropriate screwdriver to tighten them to ensure structural stability. Also, check the moving joints of the backrest for any foreign objects that may be blocking the lock. Clear these objects to allow smooth movement of the backrest.
Check Elastic Components
Elastic components such as springs play an important role in the locking process. If the spring loses its elasticity, it may not be able to provide enough force to lock the backrest. Carefully inspect the spring, and if a problem is found, purchase a compatible spring for replacement.
Perform Lubrication
Some office chair locking mechanisms may require lubrication to maintain good working condition. Apply an appropriate amount of lubricating oil to key parts, such as the contact points between the locking button and the slot, and the moving joints. After lubrication, operate the backrest lock several times to allow the lubricating oil to take full effect.
Replace Components
If the spring is damaged, you can replace it with a support bracket. If the chair has an adjustment lever, first lean the chair back, then reset the lever to lock it. To adjust it back, simply move the adjustment lever. You can also buy a gas cylinder online, matching the model on the original one, and replace it.
Contact the Seller or Manufacturer
Good computer chairs often come with a long warranty period, which can be up to three to five years. Contact the seller or manufacturer from whom you purchased the chair and request phone guidance for repairs. If phone guidance is not possible due to technical or tool limitations and the chair is still under warranty, the cost of sending it back for repair is usually borne by the seller or manufacturer.
