Office Chair Lifting Part Water Leakage
When the lifting part of an office chair leaks water, it is necessary to immediately cut off the power and thoroughly dry it to prevent circuit short circuits and rusting of metal components. The specific handling steps are as follows:

Cut off the power to prevent short circuits
Immediately unplug the power cord or charger to avoid the risk of short circuits caused by water coming into contact with the circuit. If the office chair is electrically powered and has a built-in battery, remove the battery for separate handling to prevent damage to internal components.Invert to drain water and clean the surface
Invert the seat so that the lifting part faces downward, allowing gravity to drain the internal accumulated water. Use a dry cloth or highly absorbent paper towel to wipe off the visible water on the surface, focusing on cleaning the gap areas such as the connection points of the gas rod and around the adjustment buttons. If there is accumulated water at the hardware joints (such as screws), disassemble the screws and clean them one by one to prevent rusting.Deeply dry key components
- Connection points of the gas rod: If the accumulated water remains for more than 2 hours, rust spots are likely to form on the metal surface. Use the cold air setting of a hair dryer to blow-dry the gaps, avoiding hot air which can deform plastic components.
- Internal spring structure: If the water level exceeds the height of the adjustment buttons, the internal springs may leak water. Remove the outer cover of the gas spring (usually by rotating or unsnapping it), and use a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of alcohol to wipe the metal contact surfaces. Alcohol can accelerate water evaporation and inhibit rusting.
- Circuit module: If the circuit board of an electrically powered lifting chair leaks water, use a cotton swab to absorb the water and place it in a dry and well-ventilated area to air-dry naturally. Do not heat it directly.
Ventilate, dry, and store away from light
Place the office chair in a well-ventilated environment to dry for 36-48 hours, avoiding direct sunlight. Plastic components (such as the base and outer shell) will age and become brittle more quickly if exposed to sunlight for a long time. Cover them with a shade cloth or move them to a shaded area.Function test and subsequent inspection
After drying, reassemble the office chair and test the lifting function. If there is stuttering, abnormal noise, or poor lifting performance, immediately stop using it and contact a professional maintenance technician to inspect the internal structure (such as the sealing of the gas rod and the elasticity of the springs). Water leakage that is not handled for a long time may cause air leakage in the gas rod or circuit failures, increasing safety hazards.
Precautions: If the office chair is a pneumatic lifting type, the high-pressure gas inside the gas rod may affect the sealing performance when exposed to water. It is recommended to regularly check the surface of the gas rod for rusting or oil leakage and replace it with a new one if necessary.
