Office Chair Lift Chair Repair

Admin October 09, 2026

The repair of office chair lift chairs should be carried out according to different fault conditions. Here are the common faults and repair methods:

I. Sideways Tilt or Inability to Lift Fault

If the chair tilts sideways or cannot be lifted at all, it is necessary to disassemble and inspect the internal structure.

  1. Disassembly Steps:
    • Prepare a rubber mallet (or an ordinary hammer + a towel), place the chair upside down on the ground, remove the fixing screws of the bottom tray, and separate the seat cushion from the chassis.
    • Disassemble the chassis, gas lift, and chair legs in sequence, focusing on inspecting the fault location.
  2. Chassis Separation Techniques:
    • Hold the chassis upside down with one hand and strike specific positions with a rubber mallet; if using an iron hammer, pad it with a towel to avoid damaging the paint surface. After striking several times, the chassis can be separated.
  3. Gas Lift Problem Handling:
    • If the gas lift is faulty, place the chair upside down and strike the bottom of the gas lift flatly with a hammer on the side (do not strike the middle button), attempting to reset it or replace it with a new gas lift.

II. Lift Chair Cannot Be Lifted

As a core component, the hydraulic rod may be damaged after long-term use.

  • Repair Method: Replace the hydraulic rod directly. It is important to choose a specification that matches the original chair to avoid secondary faults caused by size mismatch.

III. Lift Chair Automatically Slides Down

This fault is mostly related to the gas lift or mechanical structure and requires troubleshooting on a case-by-case basis:

  1. Gas Lift Aging and Pressure Loss:
    • Long-term repeated lifting and lowering cause the internal sealing ring to age, resulting in high-pressure gas leakage and a decrease in locking ability. This problem is common in chairs that have been used for more than 5 years, and the gas lift needs to be replaced.
  2. Sealing Ring Wear and Air Leakage:
    • Dust, moisture, or aging lubricating oil invade the interior of the gas lift, damaging the sealing structure. This fault cannot be disassembled and repaired by oneself, and the entire gas lift needs to be replaced.
  3. Adjusting Lever Pressing Against the Valve:
    • The metal adjusting lever is misaligned, the screws are loose, or the plastic parts are worn, causing the valve to be partially open. The repair is relatively simple, requiring adjustment of the lever position, tightening of the screws, or replacement of worn parts.
  4. Chassis Mechanism Deformation:
    • Long-term overweight use or violent impacts cause the chassis steel plate to deform. Professional calibration or replacement of the chassis is required to avoid safety hazards caused by forced use.

Repair Tips: If you are not familiar with the internal structure, it is recommended to contact professional repair personnel for operation, especially when it involves the disassembly of the gas lift, as high-pressure components may pose safety risks.
