Office Chair Lever Adjustment
Office chair lever adjustment mainly involves height adjustment, and in some cases, also includes adjustment of the backrest recline force. The specific methods are as follows:

Height Adjustment
- Locate the hand control device: If you are already seated in the chair, you can adjust the height by pulling up the corresponding control lever; some models require turning a knob instead of pulling a lever. If you are unsure which lever controls the height, you can read the chair's instruction manual or try each lever one by one.
- Pneumatic lever-type adjustment:
- Lower the seat: Pull up the adjustment lever while slightly lifting your body. Use your body weight to press down, and the seat will slowly descend. Release the adjustment lever to lock it at the desired height.
- Raise the seat: Pull up the adjustment lever while keeping your body off the seat or with only slight contact. The seat will automatically rise slowly under the elastic force of the pneumatic rod. Release your hand to lock it in place when it reaches the desired height.
- Operation details: Adjust gently, moving the chair only a few inches (or centimeters) at a time. After adjustment, return the lever to its original position. For some models, you may need to pull up the lever to raise the seat and press it down to lower the seat; pneumatic models allow pumping the lever, that is, repeatedly pushing it up and down to raise or lower the seat.
- Adjust from a standing position: If you cannot adjust it properly while seated, try adjusting from a standing position. Adjust the seat height of the chair until the front of the chair is just below your knees. At this point, you should be able to sit comfortably in the chair with your feet flat on the ground.
Other Function Adjustments
Some office chair levers have other functions. For example, the right lever of an executive chair controls the height adjustment. While seated, gently pull it up to raise the chair and press it down to lower it. When adjusting the height, do not leave the seat; use your body weight to assist in the adjustment. Adjust it to a comfortable position where your knees are bent at a 90-degree angle and your feet can rest flat on the ground. The left lever controls the backrest recline force. Pull it up to recline backward, find your preferred angle, and then press it down to lock it. Some high-end chairs have a knob to adjust the recline tightness.
