Office Chair Leg Support

Admin October 19, 2026

The leg support function of office chairs is mainly achieved through two methods: seat depth adjustment and the movable leg rest (Tiang Shubao).

I. Seat Depth Adjustment Function
Some office chairs, such as the Heibai Diao P2Max, are designed with an adjustable seat depth mechanism, allowing users to adjust the front-to-back position of the seat cushion according to their leg length. The adjustment range is typically between 40-50mm (e.g., around 45mm), achieved through a sliding rail or buckle structure. This design ensures even support for the front part of the thighs by altering the relative distance between the seat cushion and the backrest, preventing leg suspension due to a short seat depth or compression of blood vessels and nerves behind the knees due to an excessively long seat depth. When adjusting, it is important to maintain a 2-3 finger gap between the knees and the front edge of the seat cushion to ensure unobstructed blood circulation.

II. Movable Leg Rest (Tiang Shubao) Accessory
As an independent upgrade module for ergonomic chairs, the movable leg rest provides leg support through physical extension. Its core functions include:

  1. Height Adjustment: By pulling out a sliding rod or using a gas lift structure, it accommodates the leg lengths of users of different heights, typically supporting a vertical adjustment range of 5-10cm.
  2. Angle Adjustment: Using a folding or hinge design, it can adjust the angle between the support surface and the horizontal plane (commonly ranging from 0ยฐ to 30ยฐ), matching different usage scenarios such as sitting and semi-reclining positions.
  3. Compatibility: It is fixed to the chair body with buckles or straps, fitting most brands of ergonomic chairs. Some high-end models support coordinated adjustment with the chair back.
When using, ensure that the support surface naturally fits against the calves to avoid excessive elevation that may obstruct blood return to the feet.

III. Other Related Structures
Office chair bases, such as five-star and four-star bases, primarily bear the weight and facilitate movement. Their materials (nylon, steel, aluminum alloy) and wheel types (silent wheels, brake wheels) affect stability and user experience but have no direct relation to leg support. When selecting, consider the floor material and usage scenario to choose the appropriate base type. For example, soft wheels are recommended for hard floors to reduce noise.

Summary: For direct leg support, prioritize models equipped with a movable leg rest. If only improving sitting posture adaptability is needed, seat depth adjustment will suffice. Base selection should be based on the usage environment.
