Office Chair Leg Replacement

Admin October 09, 2026

The method for replacing office chair legs depends on the type of chair leg and the extent of damage. Here are replacement methods for different types of chair legs:

If the plastic legs of an office chair are damaged, it is recommended to replace them with new legs to ensure safety and durability. You can inquire at the original place of purchase about the availability of spare parts or look for suitable alternatives online. Generally, the cost of replacing a single plastic leg is around several dozen yuan; if you choose to replace it with an aluminum alloy leg, the price may be over a hundred yuan.

For the issue of front legs being higher than the rear legs, there are three treatment methods:

  • Wooden chairs: Suitable for shortening the rear legs. Use a plane or sandpaper to evenly sand the bottom ends of the two rear legs, cutting a small amount each time and repeatedly testing for balance until the chair is stable.
  • Metal chairs or chairs that are inconvenient to modify: You can attach rubber pads, wooden pieces, or specialized furniture leveling pads to the bottom of the front legs, stacking them layer by layer until the chair is stable.
  • If the chair structure allows and the tilt is severe: You can remove the old legs and either remake or purchase new legs according to the original tilt angle for replacement.

If you need to replace the five-star base of a computer chair, follow these steps:

  • Gently lay the chair on the ground and check if there is a flat washer snap ring under the central column.
  • If there is a flat washer snap ring: Remove the flat washer snap ring, extract the old five-star base, and replace it with a new one.
  • If there is no flat washer snap ring: The connection between the five-star base and the steel column is conical and held together by weight. You can gently tap it with a hammer until the five-star base comes off, and then install the new one.

If you need to replace the footrest of the Sihoo C series C300/C500, which is fixed with three screws, simply remove these three screws during replacement.

When replacing office chair legs, choose the appropriate method based on the type of chair leg and the extent of damage, and ensure safety during the operation to avoid damaging other parts of the chair. If you are not familiar with the operation, it is recommended to seek the help of a professional.
