Office Chair Leg Removal
There are several methods for removing the legs of an office chair, and you can choose the appropriate one based on the specific chair model:

Removal Approach for Sihoo C300/C500-type Chair Legs
If the chair legs have a structure similar to the footrest (such as in the Sihoo C300/C500 models), you can refer to the footrest removal logic. The footrest is usually fixed with three screws. Use a screwdriver of the corresponding size to remove the screws, and then you can separate the footrest from the chair legs. This method is suitable for situations where the chair legs are fixed to removable components with screws. Be sure to keep the screws to prevent loss.
General Shaking and Lifting Method
This method is suitable for office chairs where the chair legs are fixed to the seat cushion with snaps or friction:
- Secure the Five-star Base: Place the chair on a stable floor and step on the center of the five-star base (the five-claw support at the bottom) with one foot to prevent the chair from sliding during removal.
- Shake and Lift the Seat Cushion: Hold both sides of the seat cushion with your hands, shake it slowly from side to side, and lift it upwards at the same time. Repeatedly shaking weakens the fixing effect of the snaps or friction. If unsuccessful, try changing the grip position (such as the front and back sides of the seat cushion) and repeat the above actions until the chair legs are separated from the seat cushion. This method requires controlling the force to avoid damaging the components due to excessive force.
Inverted Removal Method (for the connection between the five-star base and the central column)
This method is suitable for office chairs where the chair legs are directly connected to the gas lift or the central column:
- Invert the Chair: Gently invert the chair so that the five-star base is facing upwards, making it easier to observe the structure at the bottom of the central column.
- Check the Connectors:
- With Flat Washer Circlips: If a flat washer circlip (a metal ring-shaped component) is visible at the bottom of the central column, use needle-nose pliers or a screwdriver to remove it. Then, pull out the old five-star base, replace it with a new component, and reinstall the circlip.
- Without Flat Washer Circlips: If the connection is of a conical design (the five-star base and the steel column are pressed together by weight), wrap the bottom of the central column with a soft cloth and gently tap the edge of the five-star base with a rubber mallet or a wooden mallet to gradually loosen it and detach it from the steel column. When installing a new five-star base, ensure that the conical parts are aligned and fixed by gravity pressing.
Gas Lift Separation Method (involving the removal of the chair legs from the base)
If you need to remove the connection between the chair legs and the gas lift:
- Detach the Backrest: For some office chairs, you may need to remove the backrest first (operate according to the specific structure).
- Adjust the Gas Lift: Raise the gas lift to its highest position for easier subsequent operations.
- Shake and Remove: Hold the seat cushion with one hand and press the gas lift adjustment lever with the other hand while shaking the seat cushion from side to side. Repeated actions will separate the chair legs from the gas lift. This method requires ensuring that the gas lift is in the unlocked state to avoid damage caused by forced removal.
