Office Chair Leg Modification
There are three main methods to address the issue of an office chair having higher front legs and lower back legs: raising the front legs, shortening the back legs, or replacing the entire set of chair legs. The specific choice depends on the chair's material, the degree of tilt, and personal tool availability.

For wooden chairs, shortening the back legs is a relatively suitable method. Use a plane or sandpaper to evenly sand the bottom ends of the two back legs. Avoid removing too much material at once. After sanding, repeatedly test the chair's balance to prevent the chair's tilt direction from changing or structural damage due to excessive material removal in a single attempt. This method allows for precise control over the amount of shortening and is well-suited for wooden materials.
For metal chairs or chairs that are not easily modified, raising the front legs is a viable option. You can attach rubber pads, wooden pieces, or specialized furniture leveling feet to the bottom of the front legs. Adjust the height by stacking these items layer by layer until the chair reaches a stable state. Rubber pads increase friction to prevent the chair from sliding; wooden pieces provide stable support; and specialized leveling feet are more targeted and durable.
If the chair's structure allows and the tilt is severe, replacing the entire set of chair legs is the most thorough method. First, remove the old legs, and then make or purchase new legs according to the original tilt angle. When making new legs, ensure that their size and shape match the original legs. After installation, the four legs should maintain the desired front-high, back-low state to keep the chair's center of gravity stable.
In addition, although the method of raising the legs of an IGT aluminum alloy table (by purchasing and modifying the leg extenders of a Kermit chair) can provide ideas for modifying office chair legs, this method is mainly intended for tables and may not be entirely suitable for office chairs. Regardless of the method used, after completing the operation, repeatedly test the chair's stability. Place the chair on a flat surface, gently shake it, and observe whether there is any wobbling or sliding to ensure safe use.
