Office Chair Leg Fixation
Admin October 11, 2026
The method for fixing the legs of an office chair should be selected based on the degree of wobbling and the type of chair, as follows:

Fixing Methods for Slight Wobbling
- Wooden Chairs: If slight wobbling is caused by loose screws, use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the connecting screws, insert a small piece of cardboard or wooden wedge into the gap, and then tighten the screws to fill the gap. This method reduces the space between components by filling materials, restoring structural stability.
- Mortise-and-Tenon Joint Chairs: If the wobbling is more pronounced, apply a small amount of wood glue into the gap, align the mortise and tenon, and clamp it tightly with a heavy object. Let it sit for 1 day until the glue dries completely. The cured wood glue enhances the connection strength of the mortise and tenon, but ensure the amount of glue is moderate to avoid overflow and surface contamination.
Fixing Methods for Moderate Wobbling
- Anti-Slip Foot Pads: In daily use, if the chair slides due to a smooth floor (such as tile or wood flooring), choose rubber anti-slip foot pads with suction cups and stick them to the bottom of the chair legs. The rubber material increases friction, and the suction cup design enhances adhesion, suitable for most office chairs.
- Horizontal Reinforcement Bars: For chairs with a large distance between the front and back legs, such as dining chairs, install a horizontal reinforcement bar between the legs and secure it with screws. This structure restricts lateral movement of the legs, preventing tipping or wobbling, especially suitable for wooden or metal frame chairs.
- Adjusting Office Swivel Chairs: If the wobbling is caused by loose connections at the five-star base, tighten the connecting screws and place a rubber pad about 2 centimeters thick under the base. The rubber pad distributes the sitting pressure, reduces structural deformation caused by concentrated pressure, and lowers the degree of wobbling.
Repair Methods for Severe Wobbling
- Metal Band Reinforcement: If the chair leg is cracked or severely deformed, use a metal band to tighten the cracked area and then secure it with nails or screws. The metal band restricts the expansion of the crack and restores the load-bearing capacity of the chair leg, suitable for wooden or composite material chair legs.
- Replacing Chair Legs: If the chair legs are damaged beyond repair, directly replace them with more stable metal chair legs. Metal materials have high strength and wear resistance, effectively improving the overall stability of the chair, but ensure the new chair legs are compatible with the original frame.
Fixing Solutions for Special Designs
- Adjustable Footrests: For some office chairs (such as controversial seats), the leg extension panels are actually adjustable footrests covered with high-density foam pads. If the footrest is loose, check the adjustment buckles or screws and adjust them to the appropriate position according to the instructions.
- Rotating Adjustable Legs: For chairs like the F18 four-leg chair, adjust the height of the rotating legs to ensure all four legs touch the ground evenly. Adjust each leg slightly one by one to avoid wobbling caused by height differences.
- L-Shaped Angle Brackets: For wooden chairs, use L-shaped angle brackets to fix the right-angle connection between the chair legs and the crossbar. Insert the angle bracket into the right-angle gap and tighten it with screws. This operation is simple and cost-effective, suitable for home repairs.
