Office Chair Leather Upholstery Tutorial
Admin October 22, 2026
The tutorial for leather upholstery of office chairs requires selecting appropriate methods based on different types of seats. Here are the common types and their operating steps:

I. Tutorial for Leather Upholstery of Irregularly Shaped Chairs
- Material Preparation: Select cowhide with an area of approximately 40 to 50 square feet, ensuring that the leather has a uniform texture and is free from damage. If the seat has a complex shape, draw a cutting template in advance.
- Leather Cutting: According to the three-dimensional structure of the seat, cut the leather into multiple pieces for splicing. Pay attention to leaving a 1-2 centimeter seam allowance. For irregularly shaped seats, focus on handling the corner and curved areas to prevent excessive stretching and deformation of the leather.
- Sewing and Installation: Sew the leather using an industrial sewing machine or hand stitching, with a stitch length of 3-4 millimeters to ensure firm seams. After sewing, wrap the leather set from the bottom of the seat upwards and fix the edges with concealed fasteners or glue to avoid an unsightly appearance.

- Surface Pre-treatment: Use a vacuum cleaner or a soft-bristled brush to remove dust from the seat surface, ensuring that there are no particles left. If the seat is wooden, sand the surface until smooth with sandpaper to prevent leather wear.
- Dust Prevention and Filling: First, cover the surface with a layer of transparent film to prevent dust from penetrating the leather. Cut foam material according to the seat size, with a recommended thickness of 2-3 centimeters. Trim the foam along the edges with a utility knife to fit the shape and fix it with tape.
- Secondary Protection and Fixation: Wrap the foam layer with bubble wrap to increase cushioning and fix it with tape as well. Finally, cover the leather flat, stretch it from the center of the seat to the surroundings, and fix the leather edges with a staple gun or concealed fasteners to ensure there are no wrinkles.
III. Tutorial for Leather Upholstery of Leather Seat Handles
- Cleaning and Sanding: Wipe the handle surface with a leather cleaner to remove oil stains and dust. After drying, lightly sand the surface with fine sandpaper (400-600 grit) to enhance the adhesion of the repair agent.
- Repair and Filling: If the handle has cracks or damage, cut a leather patch that matches the shape of the damaged area, apply leather glue, and paste it. Flatten the edges with a scraper. Apply a leather repair agent over the entire surface to fill in small scratches and wait for it to dry (usually 2-4 hours).
- Care and Maintenance: After repair, evenly wipe the surface with a leather conditioner to form a protective film and extend its service life. Avoid using alcohol or strongly corrosive cleaners to prevent the leather from hardening.
Precautions: Wear gloves before operation to prevent leather dye or chemicals from contacting the skin. Keep the force even when sewing or fixing to prevent the leather from tearing. If the seat is an electrically adjustable model, disconnect the power supply in advance to prevent accidental triggering and potential safety hazards.
