How to Stretch Leather on an Office Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

The leather stretching of an office chair can be carried out according to the following steps:

For handling the corner positions, you can fold the leather and then nail it firmly. During the leather stretching process, frayed edges are prone to appear at the corners, affecting the overall aesthetics and service life. Reasonably fold the leather and then fix it to the office chair frame with nails. This can effectively prevent the occurrence of frayed edges. When folding, pay attention to the flatness of the leather, ensuring that the folded lines are smooth and natural. The positions where the nails are fixed should be evenly distributed to ensure a firm connection between the leather and the frame.

If using glue for the leather stretching operation, apply a thin and even layer of glue along the edge of the frame. Choose high-quality, strongly adhesive glue. Use a brush or a special tool to evenly apply the glue to the edge of the office chair frame. Note that the thickness of the glue should be moderate. Excessive thickness may cause the glue to overflow, affecting the appearance, while insufficient thickness may not achieve a good bonding effect. After applying the glue, press the leather onto the frame to ensure there are no air bubbles or wrinkles between the leather and the frame. Then, use a heavy object to press and fix it for 1 - 2 hours. The weight of the heavy object should be moderate, providing enough pressure to make the leather and the frame adhere tightly, but not so heavy as to damage the leather or the frame.

If it is a backrest cover with a zipper, first put the backrest cushion into the cover during installation. Spread the backrest cover flat and slowly place the backrest cushion into it. Pay attention to adjusting the position of the backrest cushion so that it fits the backrest cover completely. Then, zip up the zipper and fix it to the frame. Pull the zipper to an appropriate position to ensure that the backrest cover is firmly fixed to the frame. Finally, conduct a finishing check. Check whether the backrest cover is flat, whether the zipper runs smoothly, and whether there are any looseness or wrinkles in the leather. If necessary, make appropriate adjustments and repairs.
