Office Chair Leather Repair

Admin October 09, 2026

The repair of office chair leather should be carried out by selecting an appropriate method based on the degree of damage. Common repair methods are as follows:

If the surface of the office chair only shows slight wear or stains, cleaning is the preferred method. You can gently wipe the leather surface with a soft, damp cotton cloth to remove surface dust and shallow stains. For stubborn stains, a special leather cleaner is required: evenly spray the cleaner on the stain, let it sit for 1-2 minutes, and then gently wipe it in the direction of the leather grain with a damp cloth, avoiding excessive force that could deform the leather surface. Note: The cleaner should be a neutral formula. Avoid using products containing alcohol, acetone, or strongly alkaline ingredients, as these substances can damage the protective layer on the leather surface and accelerate aging.

When there are obvious cracks or peeling on the leather surface, the transparent glue repair method is more suitable. Before repairing, thoroughly clean the damaged area. After absorbing the moisture with a dry cloth, evenly apply transparent glue similar in color to the leather to the damaged area, with a thickness sufficient to cover the cracks. Immediately place a flat heavy object (such as a book or a wooden board) on the damaged area after application. Use the pressure to make the glue fully penetrate and smooth the leather surface, and keep it for 10-15 minutes until the glue is completely cured. Key points: The color of the glue should closely match the leather; otherwise, obvious color differences will form after repair. If the edges of the damaged area are rough, you can first gently sand them flat with fine sandpaper and then apply the glue.

For severe damage such as large-area peeling, deep cracks, or burns, a professional leather repair agent is required. The repair agent usually contains pigments and curing agents, which can achieve the dual effects of color repair and structural reinforcement. When operating, first clean the leather surface, fill the damaged area with the repair agent and level it. After it dries, sand it until it smoothly transitions with the surrounding leather surface. Finally, spray a leather conditioner as needed to enhance the luster. Precautions: The color of the repair agent should be precisely matched through a color test card to avoid color blocks after repair. The amount used should be strictly controlled, as excessive amounts can make the repaired area too hard or crack. Avoid using the chair for 24 hours after repair to ensure complete curing.
