Office Chair Leather Repair
Office chair leather repair can adopt targeted methods based on different types of damage. Common repair methods are as follows:

1. Repair of minor wear on the back If the back of a leather office chair only shows minor wear (such as surface scratches or a decrease in gloss), cleaning should be the first step. Use a neutral multi-functional leather cleaner along with a soft-bristled brush or sponge to gently rub the worn area in a circular motion, removing surface stains and the oxidized layer. After cleaning, use a dry cloth to absorb the moisture to prevent the residual cleaner from corroding the leather. This step can restore the cleanliness of the leather surface and provide a basic condition for subsequent repairs. If there are fine cracks in the worn area, after cleaning, apply leather care oil (containing natural wax ingredients). Massage to promote the penetration of the oil, fill the cracks, and enhance flexibility. The care oil should be a transparent type with a color similar to that of the leather to avoid affecting the overall color.
2. Repair of holes in the leather seat For cases where the leather is damaged and forms holes, a full-process repair technique of filling - color adjustment - protection should be adopted. First, sand the edges of the hole with sandpaper to remove burrs and expand the repair area (it is recommended that the diameter be 2 - 3 millimeters larger than that of the hole) to facilitate the attachment of subsequent materials. Select a water-based leather repair paste (matching the color of the original leather) to fill the hole. Apply it in 2 - 3 thin coats and sand after each drying until the surface is flat. In the color adjustment step, use leather-specific color paste. Gradually adjust the color by adding drops. After comparing it with the original leather and confirming that it is correct, use a sponge to dip the color paste and gently pat the repaired area to simulate the texture of natural leather. Finally, spray a leather protector to form a waterproof and stain-resistant film and extend the lifespan of the repair effect.
3. Repair of peeling on the armrests If the armrests of an office chair have local peeling (such as edge peeling or surface่ฑ่ฝ (here, it should be 'peeling'), it is recommended to use a leather repair patch for quick repair. Such patches are made of leather-like materials with an adhesive layer on the back, allowing for a tight fit without the need for additional glue. When repairing, first clean the peeling area to ensure there is no dust or oil. Then, cut the repair patch according to the shape of the damage (it is recommended to be 5 - 10 millimeters larger than the damaged area). Start fitting it slowly from one end, and use a scraper to expel air while fitting to avoid bubbles. After fitting, use a hot air blower to heat it at a low temperature (below 60ยฐC) to enhance the adhesion and make the patch blend naturally with the leather. This method is suitable for small-area peeling and can maintain the effect for 1 - 2 years.
Repair precautions:
- Test the compatibility of cleaners, color pastes, and other materials in a hidden area before repair to avoid fading or corrosion.
- Avoid contact with water and high temperatures within 24 hours after repair to ensure the full curing of the materials.
- For daily maintenance, it is recommended to wipe the leather with a leather care agent every month to slow down the aging process.
