Office Chair Leather Pad Repair

Admin October 16, 2026

The repair of an office chair leather pad can be carried out according to the following steps:

Repairing the Gap

  • Making black adhesive: If there is a gap in the leather pad, first cut the foam board into long strips. Use gasoline to melt the foam strips to form a viscous adhesive. Then add black powder for dyeing and blending to finally make black adhesive.
  • Cleaning and trimming: Remove the seat and use a cleaner to thoroughly spray and clean the surface of the leather pad to remove dust, stains, and other impurities. Then, carefully trim the excess outer skin of the seat along the contour of the gap to ensure that subsequent repair operations can proceed smoothly.
  • Filling the gap: Apply the prepared black adhesive evenly on the concave surface of the gap. Then put the previously removed damaged foam block back into the gap and paste it firmly. For the missing parts, continue to pour black gel for filling.

Making and Installing the Leather Pad

  • Making the leather pad: Take a leather tube, cut it open, and then trim it according to the size of the gap to make a leather pad slightly larger than the gap. Use sandpaper wrapped around a wooden block to polish the surface texture of the leather pad until it is smooth.
  • Applying gel and installing: Add black gel to the surface of the leather pad and apply it evenly around the edges to enhance the adhesion between the leather pad and the leather pad. Insert the made leather pad into the gap, ensure that it completely covers the gap, and tidy it up. Paste it firmly along the edges, remove the excess parts, make the surface smooth and flat, hide the contour of the leather pad, and make it consistent with the undamaged areas around.

Post-repair Processing

  • Processing the texture: Use appropriate tools to continuously press the repaired area to create a texture similar to that of the surrounding leather pad, making the repaired area more natural.
  • Cleaning and standing still: Clean off the excess gel on the surface to ensure that the surface of the leather pad is clean and tidy. Let the repaired office chair stand still for a few hours to allow the gel to fully dry and solidify, completing the repair.

In addition, when repairing a leather seat, polishing is crucial. If the polishing is not done properly, obvious marks will be left at the repaired area. At the same time, during the repair process, attention should be paid to the overall color coordination to avoid a stark contrast between the repaired part and the surrounding areas.
