Office Chair Leather Pad Repair

Admin October 12, 2026

The repair of the leather pad of an office chair can be carried out according to the following steps:

Repairing the Gap

If there is a gap in the leather pad, repair materials need to be prepared first. Cut a foam board into long strips, use gasoline to melt the foam strips to form a viscous gel, then add black powder for dyeing and blending to finally make a black colloid. After that, remove the seat, and use a cleaning agent to thoroughly clean the surface of the leather pad to ensure it is clean and free of impurities. Along the contour of the gap, carefully remove the excess seat outer skin and trim the edges of the gap to make them neat and smooth. Pour the prepared black gel into the gap and use a tool to evenly spread it on the surface of the pit to form a thin layer of gel. Then, put the previously prepared damaged foam block back into the gap to ensure it is firmly attached. Next, continue to pour black gel to repair the missing parts so that the filled parts are level with the surrounding leather pad.

Making and Installing a New Leather Pad

Take a leather tube and cut it open. According to the size and shape of the gap, trim a piece of leather pad that is slightly larger than the gap. Wrap a piece of sandpaper around a wooden block and sand the trimmed leather pad, focusing on cleaning the texture on the surface of the leather pad to make it smooth. Add an appropriate amount of black gel to the surface of the leather pad and evenly spread it on the edges to enhance the adhesion effect. Insert the processed leather pad into the gap, cover the damaged part, and carefully arrange it to ensure that the leather pad fits tightly with the surrounding leather pad. Finally, use glue or other suitable adhesive materials along the edges of the leather pad to firmly attach it.

Post-repair Treatment

Use a special tool, such as a texture embossing tool, to press the repaired area to create a texture similar to that of the surrounding leather pad, making the repaired part more natural and aesthetically pleasing. Clean up the excess black gel to avoid affecting the overall appearance. Place the repaired office chair in a well-ventilated place and let it stand for a few hours to allow the glue to fully dry and cure, thus completing the entire repair process.
