Office Chair Leather Cover Closure

Admin October 17, 2026

The closure of an office chair leather cover is mainly achieved through snap-button handling and fastening, with specific operations divided into three steps: positioning, snap-button installation, and auxiliary fastening. Here are the detailed steps:

1. Positioning and Initial Fastening
Start by sliding the new leather cover over the top of the chair seat, pulling it down evenly with both hands to initially wrap the backrest frame. During this process, observe whether there are pre-installed snap disks (plastic snap buttons) or hooks inside the cover, and confirm their positions relative to the chair frame. If the cover has elastic bands at the edges, adjust their direction in advance to ensure they can cover the bottom structure of the seat when tightened later. After initial fastening, check that the cover surface is flat to avoid difficulties in subsequent installation due to misalignment.

2. Snap-Button Handling and Fastening

  • Positioning of Fixed Points: Feel for the gaps at the junction of the chair backrest and seat cushion with your hands, or directly observe the slot structure on the back of the seat. Some chair frames have pre-made grooves or holes for snap-button alignment.
  • Snap Disk Installation: Insert the plastic snap disk inside the cover into the gap, then turn to the back of the seat and pull out the snap disk from the other side with your fingers or a special tool (such as a snap-button plier). A clicking sound indicates that it is securely fastened. If using snap pins and wire for fastening, align the wire inside the cover with the slot on the seat foam, then use a snap-pin plier to press the snap pin vertically in to ensure the wire fits snugly into the slot and does not loosen.
  • Force Control: Maintain moderate force during installation. Too little force may result in incomplete locking of the snap buttons, while too much force may damage the chair frame or the cover material.

3. Handling of Auxiliary Fastening Methods

  • Hook Fastening: If the cover uses a hook design, align the hooks with the crossbars of the chair frame, hang them in from above, and press gently to ensure the hooks are fully embedded in the crossbar grooves.
  • Elastic Band Adjustment: For covers with elastic bands at the bottom, cross and tighten the bands, then secure them to the pre-installed snap buttons or hooks at the bottom of the seat. During tightening, check the flatness of the cover surface multiple times to avoid wrinkles caused by excessive local tension.

Precautions: It is recommended to wear gloves before installation to prevent sharp snap buttons from scratching your fingers. If the chair frame is made of metal, avoid direct hammering with tools to prevent deformation. After installation, sit on the chair and shake slightly to test whether the cover is secure. If it is loose, readjust the positions of the snap buttons.
