Office Chair Leather Cleaning

Admin October 10, 2026

Cleaning office chair leather requires selecting the appropriate method based on the type of leather, mainly divided into daily cleaning and deep cleaning.

Daily Cleaning

For coated genuine leather office chairs with a vinyl coating on the surface, maintenance is relatively simple. Step 1: Remove loose dirt: Use a vacuum cleaner to thoroughly remove dust and debris from the surface and crevices of the seat to avoid scratching the leather during subsequent cleaning. Step 2: Clean the seam areas: Gently brush along the seams with a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove embedded dirt, being careful not to damage the thread or leather. Step 3: Use a specialized cleaner: Choose a cleaner containing leather and vinyl ingredients, or a waterless leather stain remover for office chair maintenance. Apply it evenly to the leather surface and use a clean towel to absorb any residual liquid, avoiding excessive moisture that could deform the leather. Final step: Secondary cleaning: Use a vacuum cleaner again to clean the surface and ensure no cleaner residue remains.

Deep Cleaning

If the leather surface has noticeable stains or has not been cleaned for a long time, deep cleaning is required. Step 1: Clean with a cleaner brush: Squeeze the cleaner onto the surface of the brush and gently brush the leather in a circular motion, focusing on stained areas while controlling the force to avoid abrasion. Step 2: Wipe away excess cleaner: Use a clean towel to promptly wipe away the dirt and excess cleaner brushed out to prevent residue from corroding the leather. Step 3: Clean detailed crevices: Dip a cotton swab in a small amount of cleaner to clean hard-to-reach areas such as the edges of the seat and armrest seams to ensure no dead spots. Step 4: Wipe with purified water: Use a purified water spray bottle to evenly spray the leather surface and gently wipe it with a towel to remove cleaner residue and neutralize alkaline components. Step 5: Moisturize and condition: After the leather has dried naturally, apply genuine leather moisturizer to replenish the lost oils in the leather and prevent cracking; then use a specialized conditioner for deep treatment to enhance the leather's flexibility and stain resistance. Step 6: Absorption and polishing: After treatment, wrap the seat with plastic wrap and wait for about 30 minutes to allow the genuine leather to fully absorb the conditioning ingredients; finally, use a clean towel to wipe away excess conditioner and restore the leather's luster.

Precautions: Test the cleaner in a hidden area before cleaning to avoid fading or damage; avoid using cleaning products containing alcohol, solvents, or strong acids and bases; keep the area ventilated after cleaning and avoid direct sunlight to prevent leather aging.
