Office Chair Leather Chair Production

Admin October 09, 2026

The production process of office chair leather chairs mainly includes four stages: raw material selection and inspection, cutting, sewing and frame making, filling and wrapping, and assembly.

Raw Material Selection and Inspection: Leather is the key material, with common types including full-grain leather (durable but costly), corrected-grain leather (uniform in color), and composite leather (cost-effective). Upon arrival at the factory, it needs to be inspected for color, thickness, softness, and physical properties. Other materials such as high-density rebound foam (affecting comfort and resistance to deformation), metal components (e.g., five-star bases and gas rods, requiring sufficient strength and durability), precision gas rods and chassis mechanisms (for height adjustment and tilt functions), as well as accessories like casters and plastic covers, must all undergo corresponding quality tests before being put into storage.

Cutting, Sewing, and Frame Making: During cutting, workers place plastic templates on top of the leather and use utility knives to cut out the surface materials for the parts. In the sewing stage, experienced workers use industrial sewing machines to stitch flat leather pieces into three-dimensional covers, involving processes such as plain sewing and double-needle sewing, with requirements for neat and firm stitches and natural alignment of patterns and textures at the seams. For frame making, workers bend square steel tubes into bottom cushion frames, weld support steel plates and frame openings, hook S-shaped springs and connect support steel bars. After completing the internal structure of the bottom cushion, they weld and polish the armrest interfaces and backrests. After undergoing processes such as cutting, tube bending, welding, and polishing, the welding points on the steel need to be polished smooth. The metal frame undergoes pre-treatment (such as degreasing and rust removal) and electrostatic powder coating processes to form a sturdy, wear-resistant, and aesthetically pleasing coating.

Filling and Wrapping: The leather is glued onto harder foam cushions, and slightly larger foam pads are cut out to make seat cushions and backrests. Softer, fluffy foam pads are cut into connected rectangles and pleated and sewn onto the leather to form the basic shape of the seat back's leather surface. The foam densities in the chair vary; soft foam is used for cushioning, while hard foam is used for shaping. The leather is divided according to size and sewn together with the foam. The previously welded frame is then added with particle board and foam, and finally wrapped with the leather.

Assembly: The surface of the metal frame is wrapped with foam pads, and then the sewn leather covers are placed on top for decoration. The shielding plates and frame are fixed, and the height-adjustable armrests, hydraulic rods, gas rods, and seat bottom support rods are assembled. After the seat is assembled, plastic cover plates are screwed on. The hydraulic rods for the base, support rods, support disks, and height adjustment valve seats are installed, followed by the aluminum base and casters. Finally, the headrest and armrest parts are attached.
