Office Chair Leather Care

Admin October 10, 2026

For the scientific care of office chair leather, you can refer to the following steps:

1. Prepare tools and products You will need soft microfiber cloths or pure cotton cloths, soft-bristled brushes (such as makeup brushes or specialized leather brushes), and, if possible, a vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment. For cleaning agents, choose neutral leather-specific products with a pH value between 5 and 7.5. For care, use mink oil, horse oil care creams, or combined cleaning and care products. It is strictly prohibited to use ordinary cleaning agents containing alkaline or strong acidic components, laundry detergent, non-neutral soap, or strong cleaning agents (such as all-purpose cleaners). These substances can damage the natural oil layer of the leather, leading to cracking or fading.

2. Daily dust removal and simple cleaning It is recommended to perform this once a week. First, use a vacuum cleaner or soft-bristled brush to remove large particles of dust and debris from the seat crevices and folds, avoiding friction that could damage the leather surface. For surface dust, gently wipe the entire surface along the leather grain with a damp towel (wrung out so that it does not drip water), and then immediately dry it with a dry towel to prevent moisture from seeping into the leather and causing mildew or deformation.

3. Regular deep cleaning Perform this once a month, choosing the method based on the degree of staining:

  • Ordinary dirt: Spray a neutral specialized cleaning agent or diluted neutral soapy water onto a soft cloth (do not spray directly onto the leather), and gently wipe in a circular motion, focusing on high-contact areas such as armrests and seat cushions.
  • Stubborn oil stains: Use a specialized leather cleaner for deep cleaning. Squeeze the cleaner onto the surface of the brush and then brush it, wipe off the excess cleaner with a towel, and finally clean the residue in the crevices with cotton swabs and wipe away chemical residues with a spray bottle of purified water. After cleaning, make sure the chair dries completely naturally in a well-ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight or high-temperature baking.

4. Key oil application care Perform this once every quarter or every six months, after cleaning and ensuring complete dryness. Apply an appropriate amount of specialized leather care agent (such as a care cream) to a soft cloth and evenly apply it to the entire leather surface in small circular motions. The care agent can replenish the lost oils in the leather, forming a protective film that effectively prevents cracking, fading, and restores a soft touch and natural luster. You can also use a genuine leather moisturizing cream for moisturizing treatment, then deeply massage with a genuine leather BB cream conditioner, cover with plastic wrap and let it sit for 30 minutes to promote absorption, and finally wipe off the excess conditioner.

5. Comprehensive maintenance inspection Perform a thorough major maintenance once every six months to a year. After completing deep cleaning and oil application care, carefully inspect all parts of the chair for signs of slight wear, discoloration, or cracking. Provide additional care to high-use areas (such as the edges of armrests). Timely repair of problems can extend the service life of the leather.
