Office Chair Lacks Elasticity
If your office chair lacks elasticity, you can try the following solutions:

Check the Handle and Base: The handle and base are key components for adjusting the elasticity of an office chair. The handle is usually located on the side of the chair. Pulling it to the right unlocks the backrest, allowing it to adjust freely; pushing it to the left locks the backrest in place. There is typically a cylindrical knob on the base. Turning it clockwise increases the rebound support force, making the backrest โharderโ; turning it counterclockwise decreases the support force, making the backrest โsofterโ. Adjust the knob appropriately according to your personal needs to improve the issue of insufficient elasticity.
Troubleshoot the Cable Control Switch: If the chair has a reclining function and the adjustment fails, the cable control switch may be the cause of the malfunction. First, check whether the switch closes automatically. If it does not, the cable control may be loose, broken, or disengaged. Try adjusting the nut position of the cable control switch or replacing it with a new one. The cable control switch is usually connected to the bottom or side of the chair. Be careful when operating to avoid damaging other components.
Assess the Condition of the Gas Lift: The adjustment function of the chair's backrest is closely related to the gas lift. Squeeze the thin end of the gas lift and press down. If the gas lift retracts easily without resistance, it indicates that the internal air pressure is insufficient or there is a leak, and a new gas lift needs to be replaced. The gas lift is one of the core components of an office chair. When replacing it, choose a product that matches the original model and ensure it is installed firmly.
Check the Backrest Connection: If the connection between the backrest and the main body of the chair is loose, it can cause the backrest to wobble or lose elasticity. Use a screwdriver or wrench to check the screws or nuts at the connection. If they are loose, tighten them to the appropriate torque. If the connecting parts are damaged, replace them with new ones.
Replace or Supplement the Springs: The rebound function of the backrest of some office chairs relies on springs. If the springs are worn, broken, or aged, the elasticity will decrease. You can contact the manufacturer or a professional repair person to obtain suitable springs or replace the entire spring assembly directly. Pay attention to the installation direction and force of the springs during operation to avoid safety hazards caused by incorrect installation.
Adjust the Backrest Angle: If the backrest angle is too straight or too inclined, it may affect the rebound effect. According to the natural curve of the human spine, adjust the backrest to a moderately reclined angle (usually between 100ยฐ and 110ยฐ) to improve comfort and elasticity performance. Refer to the user manual for adjustment methods or consult a professional.
