The Iron Sheet of the Office Chair is Loose

Admin October 10, 2026

If the iron sheet of the office chair is loose, corresponding measures can be taken for repair according to different situations.

If the looseness of the iron sheet is caused by loose screws and nuts, which is a relatively common situation, you can prepare a wrench or screwdriver and check the screws at the connections between the chair legs, the seat surface, and the backrest one by one. Use the tool to tighten these screws clockwise, and generally, the looseness problem can be solved. However, if you find that the screws are stripped, that is, they cannot be screwed in or tightened normally, you need to replace them with new screws of the same specification to ensure a firm connection.

If the looseness of the iron sheet is due to a crack at the welding joint, this situation is relatively more complex. Since welding requires professional skills and equipment, it is advisable to seek professional help for re-welding and reinforcement. After welding is completed, to prevent the welded part from rusting, which would affect the service life and aesthetics of the chair, anti-rust treatment should be carried out on the welded part, such as applying anti-rust paint.

If the iron sheet on the seat surface is loose, metal glue can be used for bonding. It is recommended to use AB glue. Apply the glue evenly on the loose part of the iron sheet, then quickly press the iron sheet back into place and place a heavy object on it. Keep it for 24 hours to allow the glue to fully cure, so that the iron sheet can be firmly bonded to the seat surface.

If the iron sheet on the backrest is loose and wobbles, first check the connecting rod between the backrest and the chair body. If the connecting rod is bent and deformed, it needs to be replaced with a new one; if the connecting rod is fine, you can consider adding auxiliary support, such as installing a metal bracket, to enhance the stability of the backrest.

If the iron sheet has fallen off in large areas, it is relatively troublesome to handle. You can carefully remove the old sheet, clean the surface of the chair, and then purchase a new sheet fabric of appropriate size and shape according to the dimensions and shape of the chair. Use professional tools such as nails and glue to fix the new sheet fabric on the chair. However, this process requires certain skills and patience. If you find it difficult to repair it yourself, you can also seek help from a professional repair shop or purchase a chair cover that matches the chair to cover the damaged part.
