Office Chair Internal Materials

Admin October 09, 2026

The internal materials of office chairs mainly include shaped foam, springs, gas lift rods, metal slides, and structural components made of metal or high-strength engineering plastics.

Shaped foam is the primary filling material for the seat cushions and backrests of office chairs. Processed through special techniques, it offers excellent elasticity and support, conforming to the body's curves to provide a comfortable sitting experience. It is also resistant to deformation over prolonged use, effectively dispersing body pressure and reducing fatigue from extended sitting.

Springs play a crucial role in providing support and cushioning in the seat cushions and backrests of office chairs. In the seat cushion, springs enhance the chair's elasticity, offering noticeable rebound when sitting down or standing up, thereby improving comfort. In the backrest, springs adjust adaptively to the pressure exerted by the user's back, providing appropriate support to help maintain correct posture and reduce back strain.

The gas lift rod is the core component for adjusting the seat height of an office chair. It utilizes gas pressure principles, controlling the internal gas pressure to raise or lower the seat. Users can easily press the adjustment button to smoothly raise or lower the seat according to their needs, accommodating different heights and usage scenarios, and allowing users to find the most comfortable sitting height.

Slides are typically made of metal and are installed at the bottom of the office chair, connecting to the base. They enable the office chair to slide freely on the floor, facilitating easy movement within the office area without the need to stand up, enhancing office flexibility and efficiency.

Structural components such as the frame, base, and legs of office chairs are often made of metal (e.g., aluminum alloy) or high-strength engineering plastics. Metal materials offer high strength and stability, capable of bearing significant weight and ensuring the overall structural integrity and durability of the office chair. High-strength engineering plastics, on the other hand, are lightweight and corrosion-resistant, reducing the overall weight of the office chair while maintaining sufficient strength, making it easier to move and handle.
