Cleaning Inside an Office Chair

Admin October 14, 2026

Cleaning an office chair requires different methods for different components. Here are the specific cleaning steps:

Cleaning the Casters

  • Dealing with Hair Entanglement: If the casters are entangled with hair, there are two ways to handle it. One is to carefully cut the tangled hair with very small scissors, although this method is time-consuming. The other is the three-step disassembly cleaning method. First, turn the office chair upside down. Hold the caster bracket with your hand and pull out the caster. If it is stuck tightly, you can use a flat-head screwdriver with a soft cloth to pry the edge of the buckle. After taking out the caster, use tweezers to pick out the hair and debris in the gaps. Then, use an old toothbrush dipped in neutral detergent to brush the surface and the bearing gaps. After that, rinse with clean water (be careful to avoid water getting into the bearings), wipe dry, and let it air dry for 10 minutes.
  • Cleaning Dirt: After dealing with the hair, wet a used facial towel and let it dry in the shade. Wrap the wheel with the textured side of the towel and secure it with a rubber band. Sit on the chair and move it back and forth so that the dirt rubs onto the facial towel. Repeat this several times to clean it thoroughly.
  • Subsequent Protection: To prevent the casters from getting dirty quickly again, you can stick invisible tape on the wheels. Choose tape with an appropriate width and moderate stickiness. After tearing it off, there is almost no sticky feeling on the wheels. When sticking it, don't make it too flat. A slightly wrinkled appearance can prevent the wheels from being too slippery.

Comprehensive Deep Cleaning

  • First, use a vacuum cleaner to perform a comprehensive vacuuming. Remove the floating dust on the surface of the office chair and the debris in the gaps to prepare for subsequent cleaning.
  • Then, apply professional foam to allow the cleaning agent to fully penetrate into the fixed fibers. This can better remove stains and odors.
  • Finally, use high-temperature equipment for treatment. High temperature can not only further clean the office chair but also play a disinfecting role, effectively killing bacteria and viruses.

Cleaning Mesh Office Chairs

Cleaning a mesh office chair is relatively complex because dirt may be hidden inside, and simply wiping the surface is useless. It requires multiple steps such as brushing, pre-treatment, focused stain treatment, water circulation cleaning, and steam deep cleaning and disinfection to ensure that the mesh office chair is thoroughly cleaned.
