Office Chair Installation Sleeve

Admin October 09, 2026

The sleeves involved in office chair installation are mainly used for modular structural adjustments, component assembly, and repair replacements. The specific application scenarios and operational key points are as follows:

I. Function of Sleeves in Modular Chair Structures

In the base and support plate structures of some modular office chairs, sleeves are core transmission components. The bottom sleeve is fixedly connected to the middle of the top of the support plate, with an electric actuator installed inside and an extension sleeve inserted at the top. The electric actuator drives the sleeve system through telescopic motion to achieve dynamic height adjustment of the support plate. For example, when it is necessary to accommodate chair backs or seat cushions of different heights, the electric actuator pushes the extension sleeve upward to expand the spacing between the support plate and the upper components; when retracted, it lowers the height. This design allows the chair to flexibly accommodate users of different body types or office scenarios. The material of the sleeves is usually high-strength metal (such as aluminum alloy) to ensure load-bearing capacity and durability.

II. Sleeve Assembly Steps in Reclining Office Chair Installation

When assembling a reclining office chair with 4D armrests, sleeve assembly is a critical step that must be strictly followed:

  1. Sleeve Positioning and Insertion: Insert the three sleeves in sequence according to their numbers into the designated positions on the chair legs or support structures. Some sleeves have pre-installed screws inside and must be installed according to the corresponding numbers to avoid misalignment and structural instability.
  2. Alignment of Direction and Hole Positions: Pay special attention to the direction of the sleeves during assembly. For example, when installing the backrest module, the holes in the backrest must be precisely aligned with the screw holes on the sleeves to ensure that the subsequent screws can be smoothly inserted and fixed. If the direction is incorrect, it may cause the backrest to tilt or be unable to adjust its angle.
  3. Tightening and Testing: After positioning the sleeves, use tools to tighten the pre-installed screws inside and gently shake the components to check for firmness. After assembly is complete, test the reclining function of the chair to confirm that the sleeves cooperate smoothly with the electric actuator or hydraulic rod.

III. Sleeve Replacement Solutions in Sinking Office Chair Repairs

If an office chair sinks due to cylinder failure, a stainless steel clamp can be used as an alternative to traditional repair methods without disassembling the original sleeves or cylinder:

  1. Clamp Adaptability: Choose a stainless steel clamp with a diameter of 25-28 millimeters, whose inner diameter must match the outer diameter of the cylinder to ensure a tight fit.
  2. Installation and Load-Bearing: Place the clamp around the outside of the cylinder and bear the weight with a thick steel nut. The clamp design usually includes a rotating bearing to support smooth rotation of the chair and avoid inconvenience due to fixation.
  3. Advantages: This solution does not require replacing the cylinder or sleeves, is cost-effective, and simple to operate, making it suitable for temporary repairs or situations with limited budgets.

Sleeves play a dual role in structural support and functional adjustment in office chairs. Proper installation and maintenance can significantly enhance the chair's service life and user experience.
