Office Chair Installation Plan

Admin October 09, 2026

The installation plan for an office chair typically includes the following steps, which can be adjusted according to different types and designs:

  1. Prepare tools and verify components Before installation, prepare tools such as screwdrivers and wrenches, and check the component list of the office chair, including chair legs (such as five-star legs), casters, gas cylinders, bases, seats, backrests, armrests, headrests (if any), and matching screws. Some gas cylinders need to have the gas cylinder caps removed in advance to avoid obstruction during installation.

  2. Install casters and chair legs Insert the casters one by one into the holes of the chair legs. Some designs require firm pressing or screwing in by rotation to ensure a secure connection between the casters and the chair legs. After installation, flip the chair legs so that the five-star legs face upwards, and place the gas cylinder vertically into the central hole of the chair legs. Note that the metal end of the gas cylinder should face downwards to avoid incorrect orientation leading to subsequent installation failures.

  3. Secure the base and the seat Align the base with the mounting holes at the bottom of the seat and tighten the matching screws with a screwdriver. Some designs require initially connecting the backrest and the seat with screws first, but do not tighten them completely to facilitate subsequent angle adjustments. When installing the base, pay attention to the orientation to ensure that the control buttons (such as those for height adjustment and recline adjustment) face the correct position.

  4. Assemble the gas cylinder and the seat Insert the seat (including the base) vertically into the top hole of the gas cylinder and stop when you hear a 'click' sound or feel it is secure. For multifunctional computer chairs, first attach the tray (used to support the backrest bracket) and then install the backrest bracket to ensure a tight connection between the tray and the gas cylinder and prevent looseness.

  5. Install armrests and the backrest When securing the armrests, pay attention to the left and right directions. Some designs require leaving adjustment space for subsequent installation of the backrest. Align the backrest with the holes of the seat or armrests, and fix it with screws from the bottom and top. First, tighten all the screws slightly and then reinforce them one by one to avoid misalignment of components. If the backrest is adjustable in angle, test its flexibility after installation.

  6. Install the headrest and decorative parts Insert the headrest into the reserved hole at the top of the backrest (if any). Some designs require fixing it with screws. Finally, attach the armrest decorative caps or backrest decorative panels to cover the screw holes and enhance the aesthetics. After installation, check that all screws are tightened and shake the chair to test its stability.

Precautions:

  • It is recommended to install from the bottom up (casters โ†’ chair legs โ†’ gas cylinder โ†’ seat โ†’ backrest โ†’ armrests) to avoid repeated disassembly.
  • Screws should be tightened in stages. For example, first secure the base and the seat, then install the gas cylinder, and finally reinforce all the screws to prevent component displacement.
  • Multifunctional computer chairs may involve additional steps (such as tray installation). Refer to the product manual or contact customer service to confirm the details.
