Office Chair Installation Assessment

Admin October 09, 2026

The office chair installation assessment should focus on installation steps, quality inspection, pre-installation checks, and safety considerations, as detailed below:

Installation Steps

  1. Caster and Gas Cylinder Installation: Insert the casters vertically into the chair base sockets, ensuring they are secure. Place the thicker end of the gas cylinder into the center hole of the five-star base, confirming alignment.
  2. Base and Seat Cushion Connection: Position the base on the seat cushion, paying attention to orientation (e.g., location of adjustment buttons). Align the screw holes and tighten the screws in stages (first tighten 3-4 turns, then secure each one individually).
  3. Seat Cushion and Gas Cylinder Connection: Align the holes at the bottom of the seat cushion with the top of the gas cylinder and insert, ensuring full contact with the base.
  4. Backrest Installation:
    • Insert the bottom sides of the backrest into the armrest mounting positions on the seat cushion, securing with screws from the bottom of the armrest brackets.
    • Align the mounting holes at the back of the backrest with those on the seat cushion bracket and tighten the screws with a wrench.
  5. Armrest Installation: Distinguish between left and right armrests (with the handwheel side facing forward). Press the button and insert into the bracket holes, then insert all screws and tighten with a wrench.
  6. Headrest Installation: Place the headrest in the center at the top of the backrest, press to fit, then insert screws through the fixing clips and tighten in stages.

Quality Inspection

  1. Verticality and Stability: The deviation in verticality between the seat surface and the horizontal plane should be โ‰ค5 mm, with forward and backward movement โ‰ค10 mm and lateral sway โ‰ค10 degrees.
  2. Adjustment Functions:
    • The height adjustment range should be 100-400 mm, with a backrest angle of 90-120 degrees.
    • The adjustment ranges for armrest height, seat depth/width should meet the specifications in the manual.
  3. Operational Experience: The operating force of the adjustment mechanisms should be โ‰ค40 Newtons, with smooth rotation and no jamming. Height and backrest angle adjustments should be stable and silent.
  4. Appearance and Structure: The seat surface should be flat without bumps, the fabric free of wrinkles, the frame without deformation, the casters rotating flexibly, and the safety belt securely fastened.

Pre-Installation Checks

  1. Component Integrity: Verify that small parts such as screws, nuts, and washers are complete, and check for damage to main components like casters and gas cylinders.
  2. Space Suitability: Measure the installation location dimensions to ensure there is no space restriction when the casters are extended, and reserve space for adjustment operations.
  3. Manual Review: Focus on confirming the installation sequence and tool requirements for special components (e.g., electric adjustment modules).

Safety Considerations

  1. Component Compatibility: Use only original or properly sized screws to avoid loosening or breakage due to mismatched threads.
  2. Load Testing: After installation, perform a static load test on heavy-duty or electric chairs (e.g., load 100 kg for 5 minutes). Electric chairs should also undergo dynamic testing of adjustment functions.
  3. Anti-Tip Design: Confirm that the gas cylinder has an explosion-proof plate at the bottom and that the five-star base makes stable contact with the ground, avoiding unilateral stress.
