Office Chair Installation and Slipping Solutions
Admin October 11, 2026
If the issue is with the installation of the office chair itself, follow these steps:
- Inventory the parts: Ensure that the components include 5 casters, 1 pneumatic lift rod, 1 five-star base, 1 control mechanism tray, and 1 seat. Check that all parts are present and undamged to avoid interruptions during installation.
- Install the tray: Flip the chair over, remove the screws from the bottom of the seat cushion, align the tray with the mounting holes on the bottom of the seat cushion, and secure it with screws. Ensure that the tray is tightly connected to the seat cushion to prevent loosening during subsequent use.
- Install the casters: Insert each of the 5 casters into the five ends of the five-star base. Press firmly during installation to ensure that the casters are fully engaged with the five-star base. After installation, gently push the casters to test their stability.
- Connect the pneumatic lift rod to the seat: Place the five-star base upright on the ground, insert the thicker end with a hole of the pneumatic lift rod into the center hole of the five-star base, and ensure a tight connection. Then, align the seat with the installed tray with the top of the lift rod and press down vertically to complete the installation.
- Check for safety: Sit on the chair and operate the handle of the tray that controls the lift to test whether the lift function is normal. If the lift is stuck or the seat is tilted, recheck the installation steps.

If the issue is the chair "slipping" due to sinking, refer to the following repair methods:
- Use a hose clamp:
- Remove the plastic skirt to expose the metal cylinder. Adjust the chair to a suitable height (the seat should be level with your knees when standing). If the chair cannot stand upright, place it on its side.
- Wrap the hose clamp around the cylinder without tightening it first. To increase friction, you can wrap rubber bands or tape around the cylinder's surface or clean it with sandpaper.
- Tighten the screws of the hose clamp to fix the chair's height. If the height is not ideal after testing, adjust the position of the clamp. If the clamp slips, reinforce its grip or switch to a PVC pipe.
- Use a PVC pipe:
- Measure the diameter of the cylinder and its length at the desired height. Select a PVC pipe with a diameter of about 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) and a length that covers the cylinder.
- Cut a slit lengthwise along the PVC pipe (do not cut it completely through). Wear a mask when cutting to prevent inhaling particles. If cutting is not possible, remove the wheels and slide the pipe on directly.
- Snap the cut PVC pipe onto the cylinder, ensuring a tight fit between the pipe and the cylinder. After installation, test the chair's stability. If the pipe is loose, readjust it.
