Office Chair Incoming Material Knowledge

Admin October 19, 2026

Office chair incoming material knowledge mainly involves two core aspects: raw material types and incoming material inspection. It is necessary to ensure product safety and performance through scientific material selection and strict inspection.

Raw Material Types

The materials used in office chairs need to be selected based on functional requirements:

  1. Chair Leg Materials: Nylon or aluminum alloy are commonly used. Nylon chair legs are cost-effective but require impact resistance tests to ensure load-bearing stability. Aluminum alloy chair legs offer higher strength and are suitable for high-end products. They require testing for metal purity and surface treatment processes to prevent oxidation or scratches.
  2. Gas Lifts: As the core component for height adjustment, their safety level directly determines usage risks. Products certified by BIFMA (Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association) or SGS (a globally recognized testing standard) should be selected to ensure they do not burst under extreme temperatures ranging from -20โ„ƒ to 60โ„ƒ and high-pressure conditions.
  3. Seat Cushion and Backrest Fillers: High-density molded foam provides long-lasting support and requires testing for density (usually โ‰ฅ45kg/mยณ) and resilience. Mesh fabric offers excellent breathability but requires testing for tear resistance (โ‰ฅ50N) to prevent deformation during long-term use.
  4. Chair Casters: They need to balance wear resistance and floor protection. Hard casters are suitable for carpets, while soft casters (such as those made of PU material) require testing for rolling resistance (โ‰ค2N) and wear resistance (โ‰ฅ50,000 rotations) to avoid scratching wooden floors or tiles.

Incoming Material Inspection Process

Manufacturers ensure material compliance through multi-stage inspections:

  1. Supplier Admission Criteria: Prioritize suppliers with ISO 9001 quality management system certification. Require them to provide raw material composition inspection reports (e.g., nitrogen purity โ‰ฅ99% for gas lifts) and environmental certification (e.g., RoHS for the absence of hazardous substances).
  2. Batch Sampling Inspection: Randomly sample each batch of incoming materials. Gas lifts should undergo simulated extreme condition tests (e.g., high-temperature and high-pressure burst tests). Chair casters should be rolled continuously for 1,000 meters on simulated floors to inspect for wear marks and noise levels (โ‰ค45dB).
  3. Functional Compatibility Testing: After assembly, inspect the compatibility of various components. For example, test the smoothness of gas lift height adjustment (ยฑ5mm error) and the steering flexibility of chair casters (360ยฐ rotation resistance โ‰ค1.5N).

Strict control over raw materials and inspection processes can significantly reduce the failure rate of office chairs, extend product lifespan to over 8 years, and ensure user safety.
