Office Chair Hydraulic Device
The office chair hydraulic device mainly operates based on the principle of a hydraulic jack, achieving lifting and lowering functions through a hydraulic system. Its core component is the hydraulic rod (oil pressure rod), which features easy adjustment and a compact structure, but may have the risk of oil leakage.

Working Principle and Structural Features
The hydraulic device of an office chair takes the principle of a hydraulic jack as its core. It generates pressure through a manually driven hydraulic pump, pushing the hydraulic oil to flow within a closed system, thereby driving the piston movement to achieve lifting and lowering. It has a compact structure, can smoothly lift heavy objects, and has relatively high transmission efficiency. However, the hydraulic system requires strict sealing. After long-term use, oil leakage problems may occur, leading to the failure of the lifting and lowering function.
The hydraulic rod (oil pressure rod) is the core adjustment component of the device. It integrates an oil pressure pump inside and gradually adjusts the height by pressing the control rod. This design offers high adjustment precision, allowing users to accurately control the seat height according to their needs. Moreover, the operation is simple and direct, without the need for complex tools.
Common Faults and Repair Methods
Hydraulic rod faults are the main issues with office chair hydraulic devices. Typical manifestations include:
- Failure to rebound after sitting down: Insufficient pressure due to hydraulic oil leakage or aging of the sealing components;
- Inability to rebound after slow pressing: Stuck piston inside the hydraulic rod or abnormal viscosity of the hydraulic oil.
If the hydraulic rod is damaged, users can replace it themselves:
- Purchase spare parts: Independently purchase a compatible hydraulic rod online, with a price of around 30 yuan;
- Remove the old rod: Use a wrench or hammer to tap along the edge of the hydraulic rod to separate it from the base;
- Install the new rod: Align the bottom of the new hydraulic rod with the hole on the base and insert it. Then, place the seat on top and press it firmly with body weight to secure it.
The replacement process does not require disassembling screws and is simple to operate. However, it is necessary to choose a specification that matches the original chair.
Materials and Auxiliary Structures
The seat cushion and backrest of a hydraulic chair are usually wrapped in faux leather fabric with sponge filling, providing a comfortable sitting experience. The overall frame is made of multi-layer boards or metal frames to ensure structural stability. The armrests are made of various materials, including PU, faux leather, or metal, to meet the needs of different usage scenarios. The base designs include star-shaped, circular, and square types, and the materials are mostly chrome-plated or stainless steel, which are both aesthetically pleasing and durable.
