Increasing the Height of an Office Chair That is Too Short
If an office chair is too short, it can be raised using the following methods. The specific operation should be selected based on the type of chair and the extent of damage:

Adjust the height using the adjustment lever If the chair is equipped with a height-adjustment lever (usually located under or on the side of the seat, a black or silver metal rod), the height can be adjusted by lifting or pressing the rod. During operation, you need to lightly press or lift the seat with your body to assist in the adjustment. Some adjustment levers have a locking function, and after adjustment, the rod needs to be reset to fix the height. This method is suitable for pneumatic height-adjustable chairs, and you need to confirm that the adjustment lever functions properly before operation.
Replace the pneumatic rod When the adjustment lever fails or the pneumatic rod ages, you can purchase a compatible new pneumatic rod for replacement. It is important to choose a product that matches the load-bearing capacity, pipe diameter, and other parameters of the original pneumatic rod to avoid safety hazards caused by incompatibility. Before replacement, release the seat pressure (e.g., raise the chair to the maximum height and then slowly press it down) to prevent the pneumatic rod from suddenly popping out and causing injury. During operation, use tools to disassemble the old pneumatic rod and install the new component in its original position.
Adjust the height-increasing material under the chair legs For chairs without adjustment functions, you can place stable materials such as wooden boards or rubber pads under the chair legs (it is recommended that the thickness does not exceed 5 centimeters) to indirectly raise the seat by increasing the height of the chair legs. Ensure that the padding is flat and firmly fixed to prevent the chair from tipping over due to sliding or tilting. This method is simple and easy to implement, but it may affect the stability of the chair, and the condition of the padding needs to be checked regularly.
Use dedicated height-increasing pads There are chair-leg height-increasing pads made of rubber or plastic on the market that can be directly slipped over or glued to the bottom of the chair legs, usually able to stably raise the chair height by 2-5 centimeters. These height-increasing pads have advantages such as anti-slip and noise reduction, and are easy to install, suitable for scenarios where a small height adjustment is needed. Choose height-increasing pads that match the size of the chair legs to avoid detachment due to size mismatch.
Make a homemade height-increasing device If you have suitable materials on hand (such as wooden blocks or thick fabric wrappings), you can cut them into shapes that match the chair legs and fix them to the chair legs with ropes or tape. Ensure that the height-increasing material is firmly and stably fixed to prevent the chair from tipping over due to looseness. This method is a temporary solution, and regular inspection and reinforcement are required for long-term use.
Replace or extend the chair legs This is suitable for wooden stools and some metal stools with simple structures. First, measure the length of the new chair legs required. If you choose to extend them, determine the length and method of the joint (such as using screws or glue for fixation), and then carefully disassemble the original chair legs. During operation, keep the chair legs vertical to avoid affecting the stability of the chair due to inclined installation.
Emergency fixing method (for pneumatic rod failure) If the pneumatic rod completely fails and cannot be replaced, you can remove the fixing ring, find a section of PPR water pipe of an appropriate height, slip it over the pneumatic rod as a support, and then reinstall the ring to fix it. This method will permanently disable the chair's adjustment function, and you need to ensure that the height of the water pipe matches the requirements to avoid affecting the comfort of use due to improper height.
