Office Chair Height Increase

Admin October 08, 2026

There are multiple ways to increase the height of an office chair, and the appropriate method should be chosen based on the type of chair and specific needs:

  1. Adjust the Chair Leg Scales This method is suitable for office chairs with adjustable chair legs. Each chair leg usually has scales at the bottom. By rotating them to make all four legs at the same scale, uniform height increase can be achieved. After adjustment, check if all four legs are firmly on the ground and if the seat cushion is level to avoid chair wobbling or tilting due to height differences.

  2. DIY Chair Leg Padding For low-cost temporary height increase, fabric or old clothes can be cut into the shape of chair legs and fixed with glue or double-sided tape. Choosing thicker fabric can enhance the height-increasing effect and durability. Ensure the็ฒ˜่ดด (pasting) is flat and gap-free to avoid affecting stability.

  3. Use Objects for Padding Plastic containers like empty Mizone bottles can be cut at the top and bottom and placed under the chair legs. The height can be adjusted by stacking them. Be sure to control the padding height to avoid the chair tipping over due to a high center of gravity.

  4. Add Height-Increasing Legs There are dedicated chair height-increasing legs (made of metal or plastic) available on the market. They can be directly installed at the bottom of the chair. Ensure they are firmly and stably installed. After installation, test the stability by sitting on the chair multiple times to prevent loosening.

  5. Install Lumbar Support and Headrest Measure the width of the chair back and choose a separate lumbar support and an adjustable headrest that match the size. Fix them with no-drill clips or straps. This method indirectly raises the sitting height while improving lumbar and neck support, suitable for people who need to work at a desk for long periods.

  6. Use Height-Increasing Pads or Footstools Placing a non-slip height-increasing cushion on the chair seat or a stable footstool under the chair can achieve height adjustment. Prioritize non-slip designs to avoid safety hazards caused by sliding during use.

  7. Replace with Higher Chair Legs Measure the interface size of the original chair legs, purchase matching higher chair leg accessories, and use a wrench to remove the old chair legs and install the new ones. After installation, test the stability by shaking to ensure there is no looseness at the connections.

  8. Height Increase for Pneumatic Office Chairs Find the height adjustment handle below the chair seat. Move away from the chair or slightly lift off the seat surface, then pull the handle upward while gently lifting the seat cushion to raise it. Release the handle, and it will automatically lock. People with a lighter weight can stand and lift the seat cushion to assist in raising it.

  9. Height Increase for Spiral Office Chairs These chairs have a knob at the bottom of the gas rod or support rod. Turning it counterclockwise raises the seat, and after adjusting to the appropriate height, turn it clockwise to tighten and fix it. Keep the chair stable during operation to avoid damage caused by excessive rotation.

  10. Height Increase with Auxiliary Tools (for non-adjustable chairs)

  • Install Height-Increasing Foot Pads: Choose metal or plastic foot pads with non-slip designs and place them directly under the chair legs to increase the height by 5-15 cm.
  • Replace with Longer Gas Rods: If the original gas rod is damaged or has insufficient travel, confirm the diameter and length, purchase a longer gas rod of the same model, remove the base, and replace it. Use tools and pay attention to safety during operation.
