Office Chair Height Fixed

Admin October 09, 2026

The method for fixing the height of an office chair depends on its type, with common methods including adjustment levers, gas cylinders, or screw fixation. Here are the specific operating methods and precautions:

1. Manual Adjustment Lever Fixation
This method is suitable for office chairs equipped with mechanical adjustment levers. Place the chair on a stable surface and locate the adjustment lever beneath the seat (usually made of metal or plastic). Lift the lever upwards, allowing the chair height to be freely adjusted. Once the chair reaches the desired height, press the lever downwards firmly to lock the height using the lever principle. Maintain a stable body center of gravity during adjustment to avoid accidents caused by chair wobbling.

2. Gas Cylinder Adjustment Fixation
Gas cylinders are a common feature in modern office chairs, relying on internal high-pressure gas for stepless adjustment. Sit firmly in the chair with your feet flat on the ground and your hands gripping the edges of the seat. Lift the gas cylinder control button upwards (usually located at the center beneath the seat), and the chair will rise as pressure is released. Release the button once the target height is reached, and the compressed gas inside the cylinder will form a stable support force, automatically locking the height. Note: Avoid rapidly and repeatedly pressing the button during adjustment to prevent overheating or damage to the internal seals of the gas cylinder.

3. Screw Fixation Method
Some traditional or custom-made office chairs use screws to fix the height. Invert the chair and locate the fixing screws at the connection between the seat and the legs (usually hexagonal or cross-recessed screws). Use the corresponding tool to loosen the screws counterclockwise, adjust the seat to the target height, and then tighten the screws clockwise until fully fixed. Key Point: After adjustment, check that the screws are tightened to prevent the seat from tilting or detaching due to looseness.

General Precautions

  • Ergonomic Fit: After adjustment, ensure that your thighs are parallel to the ground, your feet naturally touch the ground, and your elbows are level with the desktop when your arms are bent, reducing pressure on the cervical and lumbar spine.
  • Regular Inspection and Maintenance: Check the tightness of the adjustment lever, gas cylinder, or screws monthly. Stop using and repair immediately if looseness or abnormal noises are detected.
  • Safety Prohibitions: Do not stand on the chair to adjust the height to prevent sudden chair surface drop due to gas cylinder overload damage. Do not use non-original parts to replace adjustment components to prevent structural instability.

By following standardized operation and regular maintenance, you can ensure that the height of your office chair remains stable, enhancing comfort and safety during use.
