Office Chair Height Adjustment
There are several main methods for adjusting the height of an office chair:

I. Locate the Hand Controls Office chairs typically have one or two handles beneath the seat. For single-handle designs, lifting the handle compresses the high-pressure gas inside the air rod, which then rebounds to raise the seat. To lower the seat, turn the handle upward while sitting on the chair, blocking the rebound of the high-pressure air in the air rod and causing the seat to descend. If the chair has two handles, one is for height adjustment and the other for backrest angle adjustment; you can determine their specific functions through repeated trials.
II. Operate the Control Lever For pneumatic lift models, height adjustment can be achieved by pumping the lever: repeatedly pushing the lever up and down raises or lowers the seat. Some models require pulling the lever upward to lift the seat and pressing it downward to lower it. It is recommended to sit on the chair while adjusting, releasing the lever once it reaches the desired height to secure it. This method applies to most pneumatic office chairs. When operating, ensure even force application to prevent lever jamming.
III. Adjust the Fixed Screws Some swivel chairs have fixed screws at the bottom. First, loosen the screws to unlock the height adjustment, manually adjust the seat to the desired position, and then retighten the screws to secure it. This method is common in mechanical lift structures. Before adjusting, confirm the screw positions to avoid overexertion, which could cause the screws to strip or damage the chair.
IV. Adjustment Precautions
- Adaptive Adjustment: Adjust according to the height of your desk and your own height to ensure that your eyes are level with the computer screen when sitting, reducing neck strain.
- Principle of Moderate Height: A seat that is too low can cause your body to sink into the chair, leading to back fatigue; a seat that is too high may force you to look upward, increasing eye strain. After adjustment, maintain an upright sitting posture to preserve the natural curve of the spine.
- Handling Abnormalities: If the chair experiences sticking, air leakage, or inability to lock at a height, discontinue use and replace it to avoid safety hazards caused by structural failures.
By following these methods, you can systematically adjust the height of your office chair, balancing comfort and health needs.
