Office Chair Headrest Making

Admin October 11, 2026

When making an office chair headrest, you can choose different styles based on your needs. Here are the making steps for several common styles:

Zero-Waste Headrest DIY:
Precise control of cutting dimensions is required. The front piece is 50โœ–๏ธ52cm, the back piece is 50โœ–๏ธ46.5cm, the bottom piece is 23โœ–๏ธ50cm (single piece), the two side pieces are 23โœ–๏ธ45cm (right-angled, two pieces), and the zipper length is 44-45cm. First, cut the fabric according to the dimensions and assemble it. You can sew a pocket on the side to increase practicality. All cut pieces need to be overlocked to prevent the fabric from fraying. When installing the zipper, leave 5 centimeters at both ends to ensure smooth operation. After assembly, fill with cotton batting to make the headrest soft and comfortable. This method focuses on material utilization and is suitable for users who pursue an eco-friendly or minimalist style.

Lace-Trimmed Creative Rustic Headrest:
Materials needed include light-colored linen fabric, red printed fabric, green fabric, etc. First, draw the pattern on paper, cut different colored fabrics according to the design, and assemble them into the pattern. Place it flat on the light-colored linen fabric. Mark details such as the umbrella pole with chalk, and sew and hem the pattern with black thread to fix it. Combine red and green printed fabrics on the back, add a hemp rope in the middle, and sew on buttons. Finally, use a special stitching method to make the red fabric into a lace trim. This style is colorful and suitable for office environments that favor a rustic or vintage atmosphere.

Ruffled Cute Checkered Headrest:
The main material is red checkered fabric, and tools such as regular scissors, pinking shears, and pearl pins are required. Cut the checkered fabric into strips of the same size and trim the edges with pinking shears. Use a sewing machine to hem and form ruffles, stack them into a 'little skirt' style, and fix them on the fabric with pearl pins. Gradually sew to form a layered skirt shape, and finally sew the front and back fabrics together and insert the pillow insert. This design is lively and cute, suitable for young users or creative office spaces.

Simple Headrest Making:
Use้—ฒ็ฝฎ (idle) clothing. Fold the fabric in half and press a 1-centimeter seam allowance, turn it inside out, and insert clothing scraps as filling. This method does not require complex tools and has simple steps, suitable for quickly making a temporary headrest or for emergency use. However, pay attention to the even distribution of the filling to avoid deformation.

Precautions:

  • Check the front and back sides and the grain direction of the fabric before cutting to ensure the pattern is symmetrical.
  • Keep the stitch length even when sewing, and reinforce key areas (such as zippers and corners) with backstitching.
  • Use an appropriate amount of cotton batting or clothing scraps. Too much will make the headrest stiff, and too little will result in insufficient support.
