Office Chair Headrest Installation
Admin October 11, 2026
The installation of an office chair headrest requires selecting the appropriate method based on its type, with core steps including preparing accessories, positioning for installation, securing connections, and adjusting and testing. The specific process is as follows:

I. General Installation Process (Taking a model with a bracket as an example)
- Preparation
- Check accessories: Ensure that the package contains the headrest body, installation bracket (if applicable), screws or clips, a wrench, and other tools. Some tool-free models may only require clips for fixation.
- Confirm compatibility: Measure the spacing between the pre-drilled installation holes at the top of the office chair backrest (commonly 8mm or 100mm). If the backrest has no pre-drilled holes, choose a clip-on headrest that does not require drilling.
- Installation Steps
- Locate installation holes: Lay the office chair backrest flat and clean the pre-drilled holes on both sides of the top with a soft cloth to prevent dust from affecting the fixation effect.
- Secure the bracket: If the headrest comes with an independent bracket, align and fix the bracket to the backrest holes with screws, paying attention to the tightening direction of the screws to avoid slippage; if it is an integrated clip, simply align it with the holes and press until fully embedded.
- Connect the headrest: Align the clips or screws of the headrest body with the bracket, press down or rotate the screws until secure. Some models allow adjusting the headrest height via a knob (usually ranging from 5 - 70cm).
II. Installation Methods for Special Types
- Gaming chair headrest: Adjust the headrest to its highest position, locate the soft leather-covered area at the bottom of the backrest, press inward to reveal two 'small tabs', and insert them into the corresponding slots on the backrest to complete fixation.
- Clip-on headrest (no drilling required): Suitable for backrests without pre-drilled holes, choose a headrest with strong adhesive pads or clips. Clean the backrest surface to ensure it is free of oil or dust; clamp the clips tightly to the edge of the backrest, or peel off the protective film from the adhesive pads and stick them on, allowing them to sit for 24 hours before use to ensure a secure bond.
- W208 foam computer chair headrest: First, align the headrest with the hanger rail and insert it, then secure the headrest to the backrest with two fine screws. The multi-dimensional adjustable headrest can be moved up and down, back and forth, and rotated at double joints.
- Yongbo 988 computer chair headrest: Align the headrest with the holes on the backrest, connect them with screws, and tighten them with a wrench.
III. Precautions
- Adjust and test: After installation, adjust the headrest up and down or back and forth to check for any looseness or abnormal noises.
- Angle adjustment: The rear tilt angle of the headrest should conform to the natural curve of the cervical spine, with a recommended range of 15ยฐ - 65ยฐ, to avoid excessive forward or backward tilt causing neck fatigue.
- Safety check: If screws are used for fixation, regularly check if they are loose; for clip-on models, avoid frequent disassembly to prevent damage to the adhesive pads or clips.
