Office Chair Has Bedbugs
If there are bedbugs on the office chair, disinfection can be carried out through measures such as pre-disinfection inspection, disinfection methods, environmental management, and long-term prevention of recurrence.

Pre-disinfection Inspection
Focus on inspecting concealed areas such as the crevices of the office chair. Use a flashlight for illumination and carefully look for traces such as black dot-like fecal marks and shed skins of bedbugs to accurately locate areas where the bedbug population is concentrated, providing a clear target for subsequent disinfection work.
Disinfection Methods
- Physical Disinfection: Soak and wash contaminated chair covers and other fabrics in hot water above 60โ. If there is a dryer, use high-temperature drying for more than 20 minutes; if not, place them in the sun for exposure. Use a high-temperature steam cleaner to continuously steam the crevices of the office chair at high temperatures, holding for 30 seconds at each spot, which can effectively and thoroughly kill adult bedbugs and eggs. Use a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter to comprehensively clean areas such as the crevices of the office chair, sucking up bedbug bodies and excreta. After vacuuming, immediately seal the dust bag and discard it in an outdoor trash can. For small items around small office stationery, seal them and place them in an environment below -17โ for several days or expose them to the sun for several hours to kill residual bedbug bodies.
- Chemical Disinfection (used as an auxiliary measure when the pest infestation is severe): Select compliant pyrethroid-based (such as lambda-cyhalothrin) or imidacloprid-based bedbug-killing agents. Spot-spray them only in concealed areas such as the crevices of the office chair where bedbugs hide, absolutely avoiding daily contact areas. After applying the agent, close the doors and windows for 2 hours to allow the agent to fully take effect. Then, fully ventilate to dissipate the odor before resuming office work. Throughout the process, ensure that no one comes into direct contact with the agent.
Environmental Management and Long-term Prevention of Recurrence
Use silicone sealant to seal cracks that may exist between the office chair and the wall, eliminating narrow crevices where bedbugs can hide. For fabric office chairs, keep them dry and well-ventilated and clean them regularly. If self-treatment is ineffective and the pest infestation range is wide, contact a qualified professional disinfection team to adopt professional solutions such as full-area heat treatment above 50โ to achieve complete eradication.
