Office Chair and Hanging Chair

Admin October 08, 2026

Office chairs and hanging chairs are two types of furniture with significantly different functions and usage scenarios. The following analysis is conducted from three aspects: functional orientation, structural characteristics, and applicable scenarios.

In terms of functional orientation, the core goal of an office chair is to "support the human body for long-term efficient work". Its design needs to meet ergonomic requirements. For example, it provides precise support through adjustable lumbar supports and neck pillows to distribute spinal pressure; it uses breathable mesh fabric or high-density foam as seat cushion materials to avoid discomfort from prolonged sitting; some high-end models (such as the Henglin L700) are also equipped with a synchronous tilt function to keep the body in a natural curve when leaning back, reducing muscle fatigue. The core function of a hanging chair, on the other hand, is to "provide a leisurely and relaxing experience". Its design focuses more on a sense of enclosure and comfort, typically featuring a wide seat and an arched backrest, combined with a slight rocking sensation generated by the suspension to help users relieve stress and relax.

In terms of structural characteristics, the structure of an office chair is oriented towards stability and functionality. The basic structure includes a five-star base (usually made of metal), a pneumatic rod (for height adjustment), a rotatable chassis (supporting 360-degree rotation), and adjustable backrest and armrest modules. Some models also add footrests or headrests to further expand usage scenarios. A hanging chair, on the other hand, takes the suspension system as its core. The main structure includes pulleys (fixed to the ceiling or crossbeam), suspension ropes (usually high-strength nylon or steel wire ropes), and the chair body (common materials include wicker, solid wood, and metal frames with soft upholstery). Some models are equipped with folding tables for users to read or use electronic devices, but the overall structure emphasizes lightweight design and suspension stability.

In terms of applicable scenarios, office chairs are highly concentrated in office environments, including offices, studies, and workshops where long-term sitting work is required. Their design needs to adapt to diverse work requirements such as computer operation, meeting discussions, and document processing. Hanging chairs, on the other hand, are mainly used in home leisure scenarios, such as balconies, courtyards, and living room corners, and can also be used in commercial leisure places like cafes and guesthouses. Their suspension characteristics require that the installation location has a load-bearing structure (such as a concrete ceiling or a sturdy crossbeam) and that sufficient activity space is reserved to avoid collision risks.
