Office Chair Hand Crank

Admin October 08, 2026

The hand-crank functions of office chairs mainly include adjusting the backrest rebound force, enabling height adjustment, and providing high safety.

Adjusting the Backrest Rebound Force: Some office chairs are equipped with a hand-crank function to adjust the rebound force of the backrest. When using it, first, the backrest's recline function needs to be activated. Then, by rotating the crank handle clockwise or counterclockwise, the rebound force of the backrest can be changed. This design allows users to flexibly adjust the support force of the backrest according to their own body weight, sitting posture habits, and comfort needs. For example, a person with a heavier weight may need to increase the rebound force to obtain sufficient support; while a person with a lighter weight can decrease the rebound force to make the backrest recline more easily, thus being more relaxed during rest.

Height Adjustment Principle: Hand-crank height-adjustable office chairs achieve height adjustment through a set of precise mechanical structures. The core components include gears, screws, and nuts. When the user manually rotates the crank handle, the gears start to rotate, driving the screw to rotate. There is a threaded fit between the screw and the nut, and the rotation of the screw causes the nut to move linearly along the screw. Since the nut is connected to the seat surface or other height-adjustable components of the chair, the linear motion of the nut is converted into the vertical height adjustment of the chair. This mechanical transmission method is stable and reliable, able to meet the height requirements of the chair in different scenarios. For example, during office work, the chair can be adjusted to an appropriate height so that the feet can rest flat on the ground and the knees and hips are kept roughly level to reduce physical fatigue; when used in conjunction with other equipment, the chair height can also be flexibly adjusted according to the height of the equipment.

Safety: Hand-crank height-adjustable chairs adopt a pure mechanical structure and do not involve gas springs. Gas springs may pose an explosion risk during long-term use or when subjected to improper external forces, while hand-crank height-adjustable chairs eliminate this safety hazard fundamentally because they do not have gas springs as a component. This makes users feel more at ease during use, especially during long periods of continuous use, without worrying about accidental injuries caused by gas spring problems.
