Government Office Chair Requirements
Admin October 09, 2026
The allocation of office chairs in central administrative units must adhere to the following requirements:

I. Quantity and Price Standards
- Quantity Allocation: Each staff member is allocated one set (including an office desk and chair combination) based on the staffing quota, with no over-allocation permitted.
- Price Ceilings:
- For department-level and bureau-level personnel: The price of each office chair shall not exceed 1,500 yuan.
- For section-level and below personnel: The price of each office chair shall not exceed 800 yuan.
II. Performance and Quality Requirements
- Design Principles: Must conform to standards of simplicity, practicality, and durability. The allocation of luxury furniture or the use of precious woods is prohibited to avoid extravagance and waste.
- Safety and Environmental Protection: Surface physical and chemical properties (such as wear resistance and corrosion resistance), mechanical properties (such as load-bearing capacity and stability), and environmental indicators (such as formaldehyde emission levels) must comply with national and industry standards to ensure safe and pollution-free use.
- Ergonomics: Component design must be reasonable and easy to assemble and disassemble. The height and tilt angle of the chair back and seat must conform to ergonomic principles to ensure comfort during prolonged use.
III. Allocation Management Principles
- Priority for Reallocation: If there are idle office chairs within the unit, priority should be given to resolving needs through internal reallocation or cross-departmental reallocation via the central administrative and public institution public property warehouse to avoid duplicate purchases.
- Strict Approval Procedures: When new purchases are indeed necessary, an allocation plan must be prepared, specifying the quantity, budget, and purpose, and the approval process must be strictly followed. Unauthorized procurement without approval is prohibited.
- Prohibition of Large-Scale Replacements: If existing office chairs can continue to be used, they should remain in use. Large-scale replacements shall not be carried out under the pretext of the issuance of the 'Guidelines' to prevent resource waste.
IV. Special Circumstances
Office chairs allocated for professional needs in educational, medical, and scientific research institutions (such as laboratory-specific chairs and medical nursing chairs) must follow their specialized regulations and are not subject to the above general standards.
These allocation requirements aim to standardize the management of office furniture in central administrative units, balancing practicality and frugality to ensure the rational use of public resources.
