General Assembly of Office Chair

Admin October 22, 2026

The following are the general assembly steps for an office chair:

I. Preliminary Preparation and Part Verification
Before assembly, carefully verify the quantity and types of parts to ensure they match the instruction manual. Common parts include: backrest (or integrated backrest and seat), seat, five-star base, casters (5 pieces), gas lift, butterfly plate, armrests (1 pair), screws (including long screws, C screws, D screws, E screws, etc.), headrest, and washers. If any parts are missing or the models do not match, contact the merchant promptly for replacements.

II. Step-by-Step Assembly Process

  1. Install Casters
Insert each of the 5 casters firmly into the mounting holes of the five-star base. Note: Some domestic casters may have non-standard sizes; apply appropriate force during installation to ensure they are securely fastened and prevent detachment during subsequent use.

  2. Install Gas Lift
Invert the five-star base with the casters installed, and vertically insert the thicker end of the gas lift into the center hole of the five-star base. If the chair is equipped with a protective shell, place it in position simultaneously. Key Point: The gas lift must be fully inserted to ensure a stable connection with the five-star base.

  3. Install Base Plate and Seat
Place the base plate on the bottom of the seat, paying attention to distinguish the front and back sides (usually, the base plate has markings or grooves corresponding to the seat structure). After aligning the 4 screw holes, first screw in the long screws (or B screws) 3-4 turns each, and then tighten them sequentially. Tip: Avoid tightening a single screw all at once to prevent the base plate from tilting.

  4. Install Armrests
Align the armrest brackets with the holes on both sides of the seat, insert them with even force, and tighten to about 90% looseness. Washers must be installed to reduce wear, and for some armrests, press the button below to complete the insertion. Note: The left and right armrests must be installed symmetrically to avoid uneven heights.

  5. Install Butterfly Plate and Connect Backrest
Fix the butterfly plate to the top of the gas lift, ensuring accurate positioning with careful operation. Align the seat with the gas lift and insert it into the base plate hole, align the bottom sides of the backrest with the mounting positions on the armrests, first fix the bottom of the backrest with 2 C screws from the bottom of the armrest brackets, and then use double wrenches to tighten the D screws at the back of the backrest and the seat bracket. Key Point: Washers must be used when installing the backrest to prevent screw loosening.

  6. Overall Assembly and Testing
Align the gas lift with the center of the butterfly plate and press down on the seat firmly 3-5 times to ensure a tight connection. Lift the seat to check for detachment; if loose, readjust. Safety Tip: Ensure all screws are tightened in this step.

  7. Install Headrest and Small Screws
Align the headrest with the center of the top of the backrest, press it to fit, and tighten it with 2 E screws through the fixing clips. Some chairs require inserting small screws as a safety measure; follow the instruction manual for operation. Note: Adjust the height of the headrest according to the user's needs.

III. Final Inspection
After assembly, shake the chair left, right, front, and back to check the tightness of each part, ensuring the casters rotate flexibly, the gas lift moves up and down smoothly, and the backrest does not wobble. Important Reminder: Avoid rapid lifting or violent shaking before the first use to prevent parts from not being fully fixed.
